It is unclear which material was intended as the only sheet to carry this name (as an incidental, later annotation) is associated with Tremella rather than Ulva and is in any case unannotated by Linnaeus, and a post-1753 addition to the herbarium. ( Lentibulariaceae).</p><p>Note: Smith (in Exot. Bot. 2: 119-120. 1805) has been credited with the typification of the name, basing it on the Hermann element. However, as the name had also been interpreted via other, discordant elements, Bhattacharyya (in Taxon 35: 750. 1986) proposed the name for rejection. This was not approved by the Committee for Spermatophyta, who ruled (in Taxon 38: 302. 1989) that the Hermann element should be the type, and that the name should be used in the sense of this type.
