432B8793FFC5FFD9FF768248FD3BFDF9.taxon	discussion	Comments and Diagnosis. Stenosigma allegrum, the type species of the genus, was transferred from Eumenes by Giordani Soika (1978). The species is easily recognized by the pronotal carina without an evident lamella (Fig. 15) and by the dense and deep punctation of the pronotum and mesepisternum (Fig. 20). Additionally, S. allegrum has the typical blackish and brownish color of the integument (Fig. 1) also present in the species S. humerale and S. quechua, but differs from these by having the lateral margins of T 1 distinctly fused ventrally in the basal portion (Fig. 28). The species was first reported from “ Allegretto ” (type locality) and Nova Teutonia — both localities in southern Brazil. However, its distribution is apparently broader with new collection records in the southeast of the country (Minas Gerais, Espírito Santo and São Paulo).	en	Ferreira, Wellington D., De Oliveira, Letícia A., Hermes, Marcel G. 432B8793FFC7FFD9FF768574FD19FB17.taxon	discussion	Comments and Diagnosis. S. humerale was described by Giordani Soika (1990) and is quite different from previously recognized species in the genus (S. allegrum, S. testaceum and S. imitans). The sparse punctures of the pronotum and mesepisternum (Figs. 18, 21); the lateral margins of T 1 not completely fused ventrally (Fig. 30); and the flat, little developed pre-apical fossa of T 1 (Fig. 31) are a set of distinctive features of this species (Hermes & Ferreira, 2016, p. 124). In addition, this species has large body size and melanic coloration (Fig. 2) that resembles species of Pachymenes (Hermes & Ferreira, 2016). For a listing of other diagnostic features for the species see Hermes and Ferreira (2016, p. 124).	en	Ferreira, Wellington D., De Oliveira, Letícia A., Hermes, Marcel G. 432B8793FFC7FFDEFF76822AFA4CFEFC.taxon	discussion	Comments and Diagnosis. This species is easily recognized by the shorter clypeus, with length and width subequal (Fig. 10). The clypeus is slightly emarginate, without carinae in the apical portion. This diagnostic feature is unique among the species of Stenosigma — in all other species the clypeus is longer than wide (compare Fig. 10 with Figs. 8, 9, 11 – 14). We have observed this condition in specimens of both sexes, unlike Giordani Soika (1990) who presented this character as unique to males in his identification key (Giordani Soika, 1990, p. 148). Unfortunately, the holotype is damaged, but the head has been preserved and can be seen in frontal view, allowing observation of the diagnostic character for this species, namely the shorter clypeus.	en	Ferreira, Wellington D., De Oliveira, Letícia A., Hermes, Marcel G. 432B8793FFC1FFDFFF768783FC85F97A.taxon	discussion	Comments and diagnosis. It differs from the other species in the genus by the following set of characters: pronotal carina with lamella developed dorsally (Fig. 16); sternopleural carina not developed; dorsal sulcus of the mesepisternum cariniform; without evident striation in the propodeum; and humerus with a prominent projection (Fig. 23). It differs particularly from S. testaceum, a similar and closely related species, by the presence of the humeral projection (Fig. 23); T 1 with a basal elevation; the apical lamella of the clypeus truncated (Fig. 11); and the sculpture of the body with denser and deeper punctation, with a corrugated appearance on the dorsal portion of the pronotum (Fig. 16, 26).	en	Ferreira, Wellington D., De Oliveira, Letícia A., Hermes, Marcel G. 432B8793FFC1FFDCFF7681F4FDDEF83D.taxon	discussion	Comments and diagnosis. This species is quite similar to S. humerale, S. allegrum and S. quechua, sharing with them the absence of dorsolateral lamella on the pronotal carina (Fig. 19) and the predominantly black body color (Fig. 5). It differs from S. allegrum by the sparse punctation on the dorsal surface of pronotum (Figs. 19, 22) and by the lateral margins of the T 1 not touching ventrally, widely separated basally (Fig. 29). Stenosigma panamensis differs from S. quechua and S. humerale by the sharp-cornered pronotal carina (in the form of a “ Z ”) in the dorsolateral surface of the pronotum (Fig. 19), and by the clypeal disc of female evenly flat all along, without a sub apical depression (Fig. 12).	en	Ferreira, Wellington D., De Oliveira, Letícia A., Hermes, Marcel G. 432B8793FFCEFFD0FF768783FBF3FC71.taxon	discussion	Comments and Diagnosis. This species is closely related to S. humerale. Both are relatively large compared to other species of Stenosigma. In addition, they present the integument with sparser punctation, rarely with concentrated and abundant punctures. In the pronotum and mesepisternum the punctures are sparse and deep. Two specimens of S. quechua were mistakenly included in the type series of S. humerale by Giordani Soika as paratypes. The mistake was detected by Hermes and Ferreira (2016), and the main differences between S. humerale and S. quechua were detailed by these authors (Hermes & Ferreira, 2016, p. 125). Stenosigma humerale and S. quechua are easily distinguished by having the pre-apical fossa flattened and poorly developed in the former (Fig. 31), and slit-shaped in the latter (Fig. 32).	en	Ferreira, Wellington D., De Oliveira, Letícia A., Hermes, Marcel G. 432B8793FFCEFFD1FF7684C2FB71FBEE.taxon	discussion	Comments and Diagnosis. Stenosigma testaceum is morphologically similar to S. imitans, but clypeal features distinguish these two species. While specimens of S. imitans have a short clypeus without evident carinae (Fig. 10), specimens of S. testaceum present a longer clypeus with developed teeth with apical carinae (Fig. 14). In addition to the clypeus condition, S. testaceum is easily recognized by its predominantly yellowish body color (Fig. 7); presence of a developed lamella in the pronotal carina (Fig. 17); and the humeral region scarcely developed, without an evident projection (Fig. 24).	en	Ferreira, Wellington D., De Oliveira, Letícia A., Hermes, Marcel G.
