Collection remarks. G. Hübner on the original label may refer to Georg Hübner, a photographer and salesman who travelled the Amazon, Ecuador and Bolivia in 1888 – 1891 and pioneered in the photography of Indigenous people for a ‘ type collection’ produced for commercial sale (Moschik & Weber-Unger 2012). He permanently emigrated to Brazil in 1897 and traveled to the headwaters of the Orinoco (Hübner 1889), a journey during which the specimen was most likely collected. The female holotype was redescribed by Maury (1982).	en	Harms, Danilo, Dupérré, Nadine (2018): An annotated type catalogue of the camel spiders (Arachnida: Solifugae) held in the Zoological Museum Hamburg. The oldest label refers to a new species of Ammotrecha but does not designate the specimen inside a vial as the type. In the description Kraepelin states that his new genus Pseudocleobis shares many features with Ammotrecha and it is most likely that the label was not changed after the description. Roewer (1934) correctly identified this specimen as the type of Pseudocleobis hirschmanni (vidi 1 ♀, Typus; p. 605) and we reiterate that this is the holotype.	en	Harms, Danilo, Dupérré, Nadine (2018): An annotated type catalogue of the camel spiders (Arachnida: Solifugae) held in the Zoological Museum Hamburg. Roewer (1933: 388) mentions that Kraepelin (1903: 576) misidentified the species and described it as a new species in honor of Kraepelin. The data found in Kraepelin (1903) matches the label (Ginir- Dana, März-Mai 1901 (1 ♂ Erl.), and therefore refer to this specimen. Roewer mentions seeing two males, including the one from Kraepelin. The male from Abessinien (Dire Dana) was not located in other German collections (SMF, ZMB) and we designate the ZMH specimen as the lectotype.	en	Harms, Danilo, Dupérré, Nadine (2018): An annotated type catalogue of the camel spiders (Arachnida: Solifugae) held in the Zoological Museum Hamburg. The ZMH collecion comprises four specimens from the type series. The label by Roewer 1931 mentions three males but only two were found in the vial and the third male may have been removed and / or dissected by him. There are two syntypes at the SMF (catalog no. 6852,6853) and these are body parts on microscope slides that were probably taken from the specimens in Hamburg. Based on the catalogue for the solifuges at the Berlin Museum (Mortiz & Fischer 1980), there are 3 ♂, 7 ♀ syntypes (catalog no. 15537 - 15541) in Berlin that are from the same locality. 471E857F1562E41BFF036252FBD3F3E9.taxon	description	Collection remarks. Klein-Namaland refers to the settlement of the Nama people South of the Oranje River. Steinkopf is a small town on the N 7 in northwestern South Africa in the Northern Cape of South Africa whilst Kamaggas is a farm roughly 61 km southeast of Steinkopf. Harvey fixes Steinkopf as the type locality and we follow his interpretation, given that the male was used primarily for the description. All specimens were collected by Leonhard Schultze who conducted a major expediton in Namibia between 1903 – 1905. The specimens were determined in 1908 by Kraepelin (1908 b) when Schultze shifted from Jena to the University of Marburg. Current systematic position. Kraepelin explicity stated that only one female and one juvenile were available for the description. There are two juvenile specimens at the ZMH that are much smaller than the one mentioned in the description. There is a female “ syntype ” in SMF (catalog no. 6858) that consists of a palp and chelicerae on a microscope slide. These almost certainly belong to one of the juvenile females at ZMH that is missing the palp and the chelicerae. Moritz & Fischer (1980) mentioned that the holotype is located in the ZMB (catalog no. 15620). This specimen was examined and matches in body size. It also has the Kraepelin label and should be declared as the lectotype.	en	Harms, Danilo, Dupérré, Nadine (2018): An annotated type catalogue of the camel spiders (Arachnida: Solifugae) held in the Zoological Museum Hamburg. 471E857F1561E41EFF03667EFC1FF51B.taxon	materials_examined	Type material. Holotype ♀ (ZMH-A 0000167). Collection remarks. Harvey (2003) lists Shari in Algeria as the type locality but this may be a misinterpretation. Herzog Adolf Friedrich zu Mecklenburg and his team actually travelled to Lake Chad and the northern rivers of Congo and Nile in current Sudan and the label information matches the travel period. Mecklenburg and his team aimed to explore the primeval forest region of the Congo tributaries and the basin of Lake Chad. The travel reports published in 1912 (‘ Vom Kongo zum Niger und Nil’) provide an account to this expedition (Mecklenburg 1912). The type locality likely is the area surrounding the Chari River south of Lake Chad in the Chad, not Algeria. Current systematic position. The specimen in the ZMH comes from the Simon collection, therefore other syntypes are likely deposited at MNHN and a lectotype should be designated from this collection. Roewer (1933: 378) created a new genus and elevated this variety to species level, but also described the male for the first time. He examined 2 ♂ and 8 ♀ including the type, from Syria, Algeria, the Greek islands of Kalymnos and Nisyros, and Turkey for his description. We do not know where these specimens are located.	en	Harms, Danilo, Dupérré, Nadine (2018): An annotated type catalogue of the camel spiders (Arachnida: Solifugae) held in the Zoological Museum Hamburg. We agree with Harvey (2013) that the “ Land der Rahannia ” as stated on one of the labels refers to the land inhabitated by the Rahanweyn people in current south-western Somalia. The specimens were probably sent to Kraepelin by Swedish arachnologist Tord Thorell who studied spiders at the Museo Civico di Storia Naturale di Genova at that time with Giacomo Doria, the then-director of the museum.	en	Harms, Danilo, Dupérré, Nadine (2018): An annotated type catalogue of the camel spiders (Arachnida: Solifugae) held in the Zoological Museum Hamburg. 471E857F1569E410FF036012FB91F02F.taxon	materials_examined	Type material. Syntypes 1 ♂, 1 ♀ (ZMH-A 0000205). Taxonomic remarks. The specimens belong to the Simon collection and were probably exchanged with Kraepelin (Label “ ex. typis). Muma (1970: 16) noted that “ the types in MNHN agree with Kraepelin's (1899) description in color and morphology but not with Roewer's (1932) statement of 4: 4 ctenidia on the male. The female paratype (ex typis) in ZSM is not conspecific with the male, it is a specimen of Eremorhax formidabilis (Simon) ”. Brookhart and Brookhart (2006, p. 308) stated that “ male and female syntypes from Arizona, USA, no locality. No. 7297, Roewer No. 9129 (ZSM). These specimens agree with Kraepelin’s (1899) description and are therefore the types of the species. Muma’s (1970) type designation for E. affinis in MNHN are not the types ”. But then Brookhart and Brookhart (2006, p. 303) also mention in the type material of Eremocosta formidabilis (Simon 1879) “ Datames affinis: Male holotype and female allotype from Arizona, USA; No. 7297, Roewer No. 9129 (MNHN) ”. Obviously, there is confusion about type determination and the ZMH specimens are best considered syntypes (and not paratypes as in Weidner 1959) until the specimens at the MNHN can be re-examined. It should be noted that Roewer (1934: 561) corrected a potential mistake by Kraepelin when he re-examined the Simon collection in Paris: the type specimen carries Kraepelin’s original label (“ Typus ”) and has an additional label by Simon that gives the type locality as ‘ Arizona’ (not Arkansas).	en	Harms, Danilo, Dupérré, Nadine (2018): An annotated type catalogue of the camel spiders (Arachnida: Solifugae) held in the Zoological Museum Hamburg. 471E857F1569E410FF0365FCFB7EF340.taxon	materials_examined	Type material. None-type ♀. Taxonomic remarks. The female from the ZMH collection is not part of the type series, as also noted by Weidner (1959: 109) who considered the specimen as a “ Locotype ” because the only female from this locality should be in the Brussel Museum (now Royal Begian Institute of Natural Sciences). Also, the oldest label written by Kraepelin mentions that the specimen was determined by Simon in 1899, twenty years after the species was first described. According to Muma (1970), the male type is at MNHN No. 1805, but the female and the juvenile are not conspecific with the type.	en	Harms, Danilo, Dupérré, Nadine (2018): An annotated type catalogue of the camel spiders (Arachnida: Solifugae) held in the Zoological Museum Hamburg. 471E857F1553E42AFF0361A3FBA3F70C.taxon	materials_examined	Type material. Lectotype ♀ designated here (ZMH-A 0000200). Taxonomic remarks. Kraepelin describes the morphology of both sexes but does not give the number of specimens he examined and a very general locality “ Turkestan ”. In 1901, he re-described the female but also commented on the coloration of both sexes. The female specimen at ZMH clearly is part of the type series. There is a male paratype (Zilch 1946) at the SMF (catalog no. 9903357) with the locality data (Usbekistan Bochara: Turan) and 1 ♀ syntype (catalog no. 8812) in ZMB (Moritz & Fischer 1980) from the locality Neu Margelan, Turkestan. 471E857F1550E429FF03644DFBAAF3F3.taxon	discussion	Remarks. There are 5 ♂ and 2 ♀ syntypes in SMF from Turan, Golodnaja-Steppe (Catalog No. 9903365, 9904698 & 9904732), and 8 ♂, 18 ♀ and 1 juvenile syntypes at the ZMB (cat no. 15569 - 15587). The lectotype should be designated from one of these collections. Weidner (1959) designated the ZMH specimen as a paratype but also mentions that this is based on the label. There is a single female at the ZMH that comes from the type series, but this specimen is juvenile and much smaller than the one described in the original description. Kraepelin mentions three different localities from Syria and Palestina, therefore two other female specimens may exist at the Königsberg Museum, and a lectotype should be designated there.	en	Harms, Danilo, Dupérré, Nadine (2018): An annotated type catalogue of the camel spiders (Arachnida: Solifugae) held in the Zoological Museum Hamburg. 471E857F1557E42EFF03622FFBBDF110.taxon	discussion	Remarks. Simon used one male specimen collected by Dr. C. Leprieur in Bou Saada for his description. The ZMH specimens are one female and one juvenile (although the label erroneously states male for the juvenile) and not part of the type series, in contrast to the designation as paratypes by Weidner (1959). Roewer had a single female for his description but there are some body parts (3 + 4 legs, pedipalp, chelicerae) of a female holotype in the SMF (catalog no. 6821). The female at the ZMH is indeed missing a chelicera, a palp and some legs. Botero-Trujillo (2014) presented a re-description of the species and mentions that the type is shared between two collections. There is a declared ♀ syntype at the SMF (catalog no. 9904706) from Vallée du Poungoue Mozambique, and 2 ♀ syntypes (catalog no. 8016, 15732) at the ZMB, one from Uhehe, and one from Konde, Unjika (Moritz & Fischer, 1980). The ZMH specimen comes from the village of Mecutine and is part of the type series, but the specimens from either SMF or ZMB need to be examined in order to designate a lectotype.	en	Harms, Danilo, Dupérré, Nadine (2018): An annotated type catalogue of the camel spiders (Arachnida: Solifugae) held in the Zoological Museum Hamburg. 471E857F155CE43BFF036658FBB8F5F7.taxon	materials_examined	Type material. Holotype ♀ (ZMH-A 0000165). Taxonomic remarks. Roewer (1933: 321) described this species in honor of Kraepelin (Lipophaga kraepelini) based on a single female previoulsy described under Lipophaga michaelseni (Kraepelin 1914). Kraepelin had mentioned earlier that it was questionable that the female belongs to the male of this species. The locality data originally presented (Kraepelin 1914) (Okahandja: W. Michaelsen, 27 – 28 April 1911) match the data on the locality label. There is a little confusion in the Roewer label; he wrote the wrong species name or forgot to change the label to his new species name. The locality data, the size and the cheliceral teeth match the data presented by Roewer and no other specimens could be found at the ZMB or SMF.	en	Harms, Danilo, Dupérré, Nadine (2018): An annotated type catalogue of the camel spiders (Arachnida: Solifugae) held in the Zoological Museum Hamburg. 471E857F1541E43FFF0361A3FBCFF5F7.taxon	materials_examined	Type material. Holotype ♂ (ZMH-A 0000160). Collection remarks. The type locality refers to the steppe regions in the land of the Massai people. Like Ceroma ornatum and Rhax termes, this specimen was collected by Gustav Fischer with the support of the Geographical Society of Hamburg. The labels do not state the original collection locality but based on the travel reports, the type locality lies in northern Tanzania and probably refers to the plains surrounding Mount Longido (as mentioned by Karsch when he described Rhax termes).	en	Harms, Danilo, Dupérré, Nadine (2018): An annotated type catalogue of the camel spiders (Arachnida: Solifugae) held in the Zoological Museum Hamburg. 471E857F1546E43FFF036372FBCCF0E5.taxon	materials_examined	Type material. Lectotype ♀ here designated (ZMH-A 0000162). Taxonomic remarks. The female from the type series is designated as a lectotype (contra Weidner 1959: 111) since the male specimen described by Karsch (1885: 136) is a misidentification according to Kraepelin (1899: 210). Kraepelin stated that the couple described by Karsch as one species do in fact belong to two different species. He clearly states that the female is R. termes and that the male described by Karsch should be named R. karschi.	en	Harms, Danilo, Dupérré, Nadine (2018): An annotated type catalogue of the camel spiders (Arachnida: Solifugae) held in the Zoological Museum Hamburg.
