7A498793FFD9FF82FF5DF85F2AABBAA9.taxon	discussion	Comments. Along with the potential occurrence of A. tunisiana (Bowen & Sterling, 1978), the invasive A. franciscana was documented in neighboring Tunisia by Ben Naceur et al. (2010) and Morocco (Amat et al. 2005). However, there is a knowledge gap regarding the putative distribution of these two Artemia species in Algeria. In the broader Maghreb region, A. salina has been observed exclusively in semiarid to hyperarid regions (Thiéry 1987; Marrone et al. 2016; this study). This pattern suggests that A. salina does not occur in the humid and subhumid regions of the Maghreb. The reasons for this restricted distribution require further investigation.	en	Chergui, Isslam, Satour, Abdellatif, Bouzid, Abdelhakim, Koulali, Khaled, Samraoui, Boudjéma (2023): Mapping the Geographic Distribution of Large Branchiopods in Algeria and a checklist update. 7A498793FFD7FF8DFF5DFF372AFCBAAA.taxon	discussion	Comments. B. schaefferi is widespread and scattered in the different regions of Algeria. Similarly, the species is widespread in Tunisia (Marrone et al. 2016) and Morocco, where Thiéry (1987) describes it as eurytopic, indicating its ability to thrive in a variety of ecological conditions. Therefore, it is not surprising that Lukić et al. (2019) demonstrated the presence of four highly divergent evolutionary clades within B. schaefferi.	en	Chergui, Isslam, Satour, Abdellatif, Bouzid, Abdelhakim, Koulali, Khaled, Samraoui, Boudjéma (2023): Mapping the Geographic Distribution of Large Branchiopods in Algeria and a checklist update. 7A498793FFD6FF8CFF5DFCAB2CC3BC8D.taxon	discussion	Comments. The species is exclusively found in the northern region of the country (Hauts Plateaux and coastal area). Recent studies showed that there are several cryptic groups related to Chirocephalus diaphanus outside and inside of Algeria (Boumendjel et al. 2023; Reniers et al. 2013). Further molecular analysis is required to clarify the taxonomic status of Chirocephalus diaphanus.	en	Chergui, Isslam, Satour, Abdellatif, Bouzid, Abdelhakim, Koulali, Khaled, Samraoui, Boudjéma (2023): Mapping the Geographic Distribution of Large Branchiopods in Algeria and a checklist update. 7A498793FFD3FF89FF5DF9B32DF5BFB9.taxon	discussion	Comments. Previously, this species was divided into two separate species: Leptestheria mayeti and L. cortieri (Rogers 2020). Another species, L. heterochaeta Daday, 1923, is considered a possible junior synonym of L. mayeti according to Rogers (2020). The distribution of L. mayeti in Algeria, extending into the Central Sahara, contrasts with its more northerly distribution in Tunisia (Marrone et al. 2016).	en	Chergui, Isslam, Satour, Abdellatif, Bouzid, Abdelhakim, Koulali, Khaled, Samraoui, Boudjéma (2023): Mapping the Geographic Distribution of Large Branchiopods in Algeria and a checklist update.
