Hoho fenwicki sp. nov. has the male gnathopod 2 propodus palm with a well developed midpalmar tooth and palm defining posterodistal tooth which distinguish it from all other Hoho species. The dense setal bunch and unsculptured palm on the male gnathopod 2 propodus margin aligns H. kalbarri sp. nov. with H. cornishi, H. hirtipalma and H. lowryi sp. nov. Hoho kalbarri sp. nov. is distinguished by the male gnathopod 2 propodus palm with a midpalmar seam and the anterior margin lined with pairs of slender setae. Curiously, three species from three closely related maerid genera have this distinctive gnathopod 2, with large square tooth and palm with dense setal bunch, H. kangarooensis sp. nov., Mallacoota schellenbergi Ledoyer, 1984 and Elasmopus carteri Hughes & Lowry, 2011, all of which occur in Australia.	en	HUGHES, L. Hoho lowryi sp. nov. has a massive subovoid male gnathopod 2 propodus with dense medial setal bunch and smooth palm margin, similar to H. cornishi, H. kalbarri sp. nov. and H. hirtipalma. Hoho lowryi sp. nov. and H. hirtipalma differ from these species in the gnathopod 2 propodus palm distal shelf which has a large cleft. Hoho lowryi sp. nov. is most similar to H. hirtipalma with pereopods 5 to 7 having a distally broad merus, carpus and propodus lined by uniform length short setae, giving the pereopods a distinct stocky appearance. In other species of Hoho the merus is broader than the carpus and increasingly broader in comparison to the propodus. The subtle differences which separate H. lowryi sp. nov. from H. hirtipalma include: larger and more robust setae on the male gnathopod 2 propodus distal shelf; pereopods 5 to 7 posterior margin weakly serrate and shorter apical robust setae on the telson. Hoho lowryi sp. nov. is small in size, adult males are around 6.0 mm, which is much less than the 17.5 mm holotype of H. hirtipalma. The presence of gravid females and males with a falcate dactylus on gnathopod 2 at this small size support the hypothesis of H. lowryi sp. nov. as a distinct taxon.	en	HUGHES, L. E. Slight variation in gnathopod 2 palm scultpting is noted with size from the 11.0 mm holotype specimen, and material drawn here of individuals measuring 8.2 mm and 12.0 mm in body length. The specimens of H. marilla from Fortescue Bay are the deepest known record of a Hoho species, collected at 400 m depth. The presence of a maerid in a baited trap sample is unusual and considered to be incidental, owing to their absence from intensive baited trap surveys along the Australian East Coast.	en	HUGHES, L. The presence of a midmedial subacute tooth on the dactylus of gnathopod 2 is only known for the adult male of H. tricarinata sp. nov. Hoho tricarinata sp. nov. is the first species described in the Maeridae to have a tricarinate formation on the pleonites. Barnard, 1972 is presently diagnosed by characters that place it between Elasmopus Costa, 1853, Mallacoota and Parelasmopus, with the mandibular palp article 1 longer than article 2 (Parelasmopus), mandibular palp article 3 rectilinear (Mallacoota, Parelasmopus), epimeron 3 posterior margin not serrate (Elasmopus, Mallacoota) and urosomite 1 smooth and non-bicarinate (Elasmopus). The new species M. barnardi sp. nov. described below, prompts a re-evaluation of these genera. Mallacoota barnardi fits the generic concept of Ifalukia, but, through a striking series of species level characters (see below), it appears to be closely related to a number of described species of Mallacoota than the potential generic congener Ifalukia resacus (J. L. Barnard, 1965). To avoid such a paradox, the new species is placed with its apparent allies, Mallacoota magnimerus Appadoo & Myers, 2006, M. subinsignis Ledoyer, 1979 and M. sculpulosa Lowry & Hughes, 2009, without expanding the generic concept of the Mallacoota. The species is considered as an exception within the genus on the basis of urosomite 1 smooth, not dorsally bicarinate. Head eyes ovate to reniform; lateral cephalic lobe broad, apically truncated, anteroventral margin with notch / slit, anteroventral corner rounded. Antenna 1 longer than antenna 2; peduncular article 1 subequal in length to article 2, with 1 robust setae along posterior margin; peduncular article 2 subequal in length to article 3; accessory flagellum minute, with 2 articles; primary flagellum with 11 articles. Antenna 2 peduncular article 2 cone gland reaching to end of peduncular article 3, with 5 articles. Lower lip inner lobes present, outer lobes with single pair of ducts, mandibular lobes apically subacute. Mandible accessory setal row well developed with 3 setae; molar well developed; mandibular palp, 3 - articulate; article 1 at least 3 times as long as broad, longer than article 2; article 2 subequal to article 3, without setae; article 3 rectolinear, short (about twice as long as broad), shorter than article 1 with 2 apical setae. Mallacoota barnardi sp. nov. was the most abundant amphipod species recorded at both Cocos This species is aligned with Mallacoota magnimerus from Mauritius, M. subinsignis of Madagascar and M. sculpulosa from Queensland, Australia. Shared characters include the distinctive form of the male gnathopod 2 and the pereopods 6 – 7 expanded articles. For mature males the pereopod 6 carpus is expanded in M. subinsignis, weakly expanded in M. barnardi sp. nov., not expanded in M. magnimerus and M. scopulosa. Mallacoota barnardi sp. nov. and M. subinsignis both have the gnathopod 2 dactylus posterior margin lined with rounded teeth, which is unknown elsewhere in the genus. This grouping of closely related species is supported by their geographic distributions, with M. scopulosa, M. barnardi sp. nov., M. magnimerus, and M. subinsignis from Queensland, Cocos (Keeling) Islands, Christmas Island, Mauritius and Madagascar, respectively.	en	HUGHES, L. Mallacoota bulowara sp. nov. is similar to six other species of Mallacoota also recorded from south-eatern Australia, M. euroka; M. kameruka; M. malua; M. penelope sp. nov.; M. subcarinata; and M. worimi sp. nov.; these species have the male gnathopod 2 propodus with dense medial setal bunch and acute palm margin with several teeth. The gnathopod 2 propodus has 2 subacute teeth along the palm in M. bulowara sp. nov., M. kameruka and M. penelope sp. nov. separating them from other species. The combination of the gnathopod 2 propodus palm distomedial shelf subrectangular and pereopods 5 – 6 basis posterior margin convex with rounded posterodistal corner, separates M. bulowara sp. nov. from the two closely related species M. kameruka and M. penelope sp. nov. In M. bulowara sp. nov. and M. kameruka the pereopods 5 – 6 are similar with the basis convex, posterodistal corner broadly rounded, however the gnathopod 2 distomedial shelf is subrectangular in M. bulowara sp. nov. and rounded in M. kameruka. Mallacoota penelope sp. nov. has the gnathopod 2 propodus palm distomedial shelf subrectangular however the margins of the basis of pereopods 5 – 7 are straight with subquadrate posterodistal corners. Hyperadult male specimens of M. bulowara sp. nov. at 10.4 mm, have the falcate gnathopod 2 dactylus and retain a subrectangular distomedial shelf rather than the rounded shelf seen in M. kameruka. These new records of M. capricornia from Norfolk Island, Western Australia and Christmas Island extend its geographic range to the Tasman Sea and the east Indian Ocean. Material examined here is consistent in the presence of the small post palmar tooth on the male gnathopod 2 propodus and the degree of broadening in the pereopods 5 – 7 merus and carpus. 7D26A779EB75407EFF64D38EFBEC68E0.taxon	discussion	Remarks. Mallacoota kunmunyah sp. nov. has the male gnathopod 2 convex palm without a distomedial shelf similar to that of M. diemenensis. Several characters including the male gnathopod 2 palm defining tooth and lack of dorsal bicariantions separate M. kunmunyah sp. nov. from M. diemenensis. The palm defining tooth in conjuction with the absence of other palmar structures, readily separate M. kunmunyah sp. nov. from other Australian Mallacoota species. Mallacoota kunmunyah sp. nov. has male and female individuals with similar enlarged gnathopod 2, as well as females which display the more typical diminutive gnathopod form. Both females phenotypes show pereopods 5 to 7 basis posterior margin castelloserrate and telsonic with large outer apicies and four long and one short robust setae, which link them morphologically to the male specimen. Mallacoota maridwinae sp. nov. has the male gnathopod 2 propodus palm entire and unsculpted, similar to M. balara, M. latibrachium, M. odontoplax and M. latibrachoides. These species also have pereopods 5 – 7 with expanded basis and broad merus and carpus, as well as the uropod 3 rami short. Mallacoota maridwinae sp. nov. can be distinguish from all Mallacoota species by the combination of the male gnathopod 2 propodus palm smooth and margin lined with robust setae. The type material from Port Stephens, collected as a single male specimen of 11.0 mm length, differs from the sequence of males from Diggers Beach, body sizes from 4.8 – 8.8 mm, in the presence of a subpalmar tooth near the distomedial shelf. In all other characters, including the gnathopod 2 form, pereopods 5 – 7 basis, setation and telson, the material is similar. Material examined shows two forms in the small male specimens, those with a well developed sinus on the male gnathopod 2 posterior margin and those without a sinus. These two phenotypes co-occur in samples and all other characters fit the description of M. nananui (sensu stricto). Ledoyer 1984 also described a non-sinusoidal gnathopod form of M. nananui from New Caledonia and the presence of this phenotype at nearby Norfolk Island supports the inclusion of this material. Mallacoota sirius sp. nov. is most similar to M. caerulea from Mauritius, in which the gnathopod 2 basis is slender and the propodus palm has a single distal tooth. The relatively plain male gnathopod 2 propodus is also found in M. latibrachium from Madagascar, the Maldives and the Gulf of Mannar, M. latibrachoides from Gulf of Mannar, and M. odontoplax, from Suluwesi, however the later three species have a broad basis and no palmar teeth. Mallacoota caerulea also has heavily setose coxae 1 – 4 ventral margins and uniform short robust setae on pereopods 5 – 7. The coxae 1 to 4 of M. Mallacoota worimi sp. nov. is most similar to M. malua with the male gnathopod 2 propodus having a dense medial setal bunch, midmedial tooth and palm defining tooth. Mallacoota worimi sp. nov. can be separated by the presence of a small third tooth at the end of the palm and the large apically blunt dactylus. Both species have a weakly expanded gnathopod 2 propodus palm acute with dense medial setal bunch, pereopods 5 – 7 posterior margins of the basis weakly serrate and telson with similar apical robust setal arrangement. Parelasmopus aumogo sp. nov. can be distinguished from P. mallacootaformis by the gnathopod 2 palmar margin lined with a row of robust setae and subpalmar surface with rounded nodules. These fine scale characters are best observed as a slide mount. In P. aumogo sp. nov. the epimeron 2 posterior distal corner has a small acute tooth and epimeron 3 is produced acute. This further separates P. aumogo sp. nov. from P. mallacootaformis where epimera 2 posterior distal corner has a well developed acute tooth and epimeron 3 is produced acute with minutely serrate ventral and posterior margins.	en	HUGHES, L. Hughes (MI WA 823). onite 7 are absent or greatly reduced in the juvenile specimens and well developed in adults. This feature was not observed in previous collections of P. suensis. Other characters which depart from P. suensis original description include long stiff setae on the pereopods 5 to 7 basis and a mid-dactylar tooth in the male gnathopod 2 (the latter possibly a hyperadult feature, see remarks for H. tricarinata sp. nov.). The male gnathopod 2 propodus palm angle is slightly more at a right angle with the dactylus closing onto a medial shelf similar to that figured by Sivaprakasam (1969 a) for P. albidus. The relationship between P. albidus, P. setiger, P. suensis and P. suluensis is difficult to assess due to limited description in the literature and lost material. These species all occur within the Indo-Pacific and are a closely related morphological complex. Material here is assigned as a cf until historic taxa and development with growth stage can be more thoroughly assessed.	en	HUGHES, L. E.
