8423D52AFFD4FFFF1FDCF8B23AD1FE81.taxon	description	Lectotype (designated here): — INDIA, Tamil Nadu, Coimbatore, Bolampatti Hills, 5000 ft, Jan, Beddome s. n. (K barcode K 000756499 [digital image!]). Fig. 1 Clarke (1882) described E. adnata based on manuscript publication of Beddome (1872) from ‘ Forester Manual of Botany’ in J. D. Hooker’s Flora. Clarke has cited the specimen of E. adnata which was collected by Beddome from 5000 ft. at Bolampatti hills in flowering condition. A major part of Beddome’s collection is available in BM, some types at K and further materials at CAL (Stafleu & Cowan 1976). All the three herbaria were consulted (virtually and by contacting the curators). Providentially, we traced two specimens mounted on same sheet with separate barcode (K 000756499 & K 000756500) both collected by Beddome from two different localities. The specimen mounted on top of the sheet (K 000756499) with a flowering twig, was collected in January from 5000 ft of Bolampatti hills, Tamil Nadu whereas the specimen at bottom (K 000756500) depicts vegetative twig collected from Palghat hills, Kerala. As the type locality and the specimen K 000756499 (K) matches with the protologue, we designate the specimen as lectotype for the name E. adnata.	en	Prasanth, Arun, Sardesai, Milind M. 8423D52AFFD6FFFC1FDCFF383FB1FE35.taxon	description	Roemer and Schultes (1819) described the taxon Ardisia basaal by citing the work of Rheede (1685) and Lamarck (1783), based on which, later Candolle (1834) proposed a new combination E. basaal. Our search for the specimen of E. basaal in BM, P and G-DC based on Stafleu & Cowan (1979; 1983; 1985) was unsuccessful. Nevertheless, in Hortus Malabaricus “ Basaal ” (5: t. 12) an illustration is available which matches with the protologue. Hence, we designate here this illustration as lectotype according to Art. 9.3 of ICN (Turland et al. 2018).	en	Prasanth, Arun, Sardesai, Milind M. 8423D52AFFD6FFFC1FDCFDA03903FC41.taxon	description	Almeida & Almeida (1993) proposed a new combination of E. drupacea based on Dennstedt (1818) name Pothos drupaceus by citing the plate from Rheede’s (1688) Hortus Malabaricus. While proposing the new combination authors have designated a neotype which is found contradictory to Art 9.8 of ICN (Turland et al. 2018). As the illustration for the taxon is available in Hortus Malabaricus based on which the name was proposed, the neotype designated by the authors is erroneous. Hence, the Rheede’s illustration “ Pu-valli ” (7: t. 42) is designated here as lectotype. Further, epitype is designated here in accordance with Art. 9.9 of ICN Turland et al. (2018) as the illustration only portrays the female flowering and fruiting branch.	en	Prasanth, Arun, Sardesai, Milind M. 8423D52AFFD6FFFC1FDCFC7C3F01FAB1.taxon	description	Lectotype (designated here): — INDIA: Western slope of Sispara, s. ann., Wight, R. s. n. (K barcode K 000756502 [digital image!]), isolectotype: (K barcode K 000756501 [digital image!], K 000756503 [digital image!]). Fig. 2 Wight (1848) collected and described the species E. gardneriana from western slopes of Sispara, Nilgiri and named the species in the honor of Mr. Gardner of Ceylon (who accompanied him and collected the first flowering specimen). According to Stafleu and Cowan (1988) type specimens of Wight is available at K and further materials at A, ADB and B. Authors found three specimens available in K two with HRWP label (Herb. R. Wight. Prop) annotated by Wight (K 000756502, K 000756503) and one by Gardner (K 000756501), who collected the specimen while accompanying Wight while collecting the specimen. Moreover, Noltie (2005) stated the same in his work “ Botany of Robert Wight ”. Hence, the specimen with barcode no. K 000756502 is designated here as lectotype.	en	Prasanth, Arun, Sardesai, Milind M. (2021): Nomenclatural notes on type materials of eight names in Embelia (Primulaceae) from Peninsular India. 8423D52AFFD6FFFC1FDCFA2D3A56F895.taxon	description	Based on Roemer and Schultes (1819) name Ardisia tsjeriam-cottam, Candolle (1834) proposed a new combination E. tsjeriam-cottam. Both the names were published by citing Rheede’s (1685) ‘ Hortus Malabaricus’ and Lamarck’s (1783) ‘ Encyclopedie methodique’. The types of Roemer & Schultes and Lamarck’s are available at BM and P, respectively (Stafleu & Cowan 1979; 1983; 1985). Authors could not find the specimens of E. tsjeriam-cottam collected by above workers. Moreover, our search for E. tsjeriam-cottam at Candolle’s collection in G-DC was also unsuccessful. However, an illustration available in Hortus Malabaricus “ Tsjeriam-cottam ” (5: t. 11) matches with the protologue. Hence, we designate here, this illustration as lectotype according to Art. 9.3 of ICN (Turland et al. 2018) and the specimen MMS 1644 (BSI) from Ambewadi, Kolhapur is designated here as epitype as per Art. 9.9 of ICN (Turland et al. 2018).	en	Prasanth, Arun, Sardesai, Milind M. 8423D52AFFD6FFF91FDCF8003E78FE81.taxon	description	Lectotype (designated here): — INDIA, Jharkhand, Rajmahal hills, 1821, Wallich Cat. No. 2308 (BM barcode BM 000997142 [digital image!]) https: // data. nhm. ac. uk / object / 80 def 686 - c 844 - 4 bd 5 - b 5 cd-daf 51 d 26 d 900 Fig. 3 Roxburgh collected a specimen of Embelia with seeds from Rajmahal hills, which is bloomed after six years (in then Royal Botanical Garden, Howrah). Based on his collections from Rajmahal hills he proposed a name E. robusta (nom. nud.) in Hortus Bengalensis. Later, the name is validly published in Flora Indica by Roxburgh (1824). Our search in BM is resulted in a sheet with catalogue number BM 000997142 bearing three twigs, one on top just with leaves and two twigs on bottom with fruits annotated as ‘ Type specimen’ and “ Embelia robusta Roxburgh 1813 ”. Hence, the specimen perfectly matches with the protologue, the specimen BM 000997142 is designated here as lectotype.	en	Prasanth, Arun, Sardesai, Milind M. 8423D52AFFD3FFF91FDCFE3D38D5FCAD.taxon	description	Lectotype (designated here): — INDIA, Jharkhand, Rajmahal hills, 1823, Wallich Cat. No. 2313 (K, K 001115624!); isolectotype: (G, G 00138770!). Fig. 4 Wallich (1824) described this species based on Roxburgh’s collection. This species was introduced into the Botanic garden along with E. robusta by Roxburgh (Wallich 1824). Major collections of Wallich are now deposited at K herbarium (Stafleu & Cowan 1988). Our search in K resulted in finding an HBC specimen with Wallich catalogue no. 2313, which is cited in the protologue. The specimen (K 001115624) from K has two species of Embelia mounted on a single sheet, on top with E. villosa (three flowering twigs) and at bottom a single reproductive twig of E. ribes. Additionally, we could trace one more specimen deposited in G herbarium which is annotated as isotype on the sheet with Wallich catalogue no. 2313 and both the specimens are matching with the protologue. Hence, here we designate the specimen with barcode K 001115624 available at K herbarium as lectotype.	en	Prasanth, Arun, Sardesai, Milind M. Fig. 5 Scheffer (1867), proposed a new combination E. viridiflora based on the collection of Blume, Kuhl and van Hasselt from Java. Based on Stafleu & Cowan (1976, 1979), we could trace the specimens of Blume, Kuhl and van Hasselt from Java that were cited in protologue. The specimen L. 2635884 collected by Kuhl and van Hasselt possesses leaf, a pocket and tickets. The second specimen L. 2635885 collected by Blume depicts flowering twig’s, a pocket and labels. Hence, the specimens match with the protologue here we designate the specimen with barcode no. L. 2635885 as lectotype.	en	Prasanth, Arun, Sardesai, Milind M.
