885C9B680B7A242AFF47A7B6D3FEFEB3.taxon	discussion	Comments. The species is the generotype of the monotypic genus. Caporiacco (1939), Sherwood (2024), and WSC (2025) indicate that the species was described based on a juvenile specimen, while Berdondini & Whitman (2003) mentioned that the holotype is an adult female. The photograph of the holotype given here leaves no doubt that it is an adult female. The shape of the epigyne, as well as the body shape and pattern, does not allow me to speculate about the relationships of the genus.	en	Marusik, Yuri M. 885C9B680B7B242AFF47A0C6D57AFCCB.taxon	discussion	Comments. This species is known only from the original description. Berdondini & Whitman (2003) cite a notice by Koch (1993: nota autographa), that the specimens may belong to M. paucispinosus Mello-Leitão, 1929 — a species described from Rio de Janeiro and known solely from the female holotype. It remains unclear who was P. L. Koch. I was unable to locate any publications by Koch dealing with spiders.	en	Marusik, Yuri M. 885C9B680B7B2429FF47A79FD513FEB3.taxon	discussion	Comments. This species has been treated in only two publications and has never been illustrated. Originally placed in Metadiaea Mello-Leitão, 1929 (a genus currently considered monotypic), its habitus and epigyne are dissimilar to those of the generotype, M. magnus (Keyserling, 1880). Instead, they resemble Misumenoides sensu Lehtinen & Marusik (2008), although these authors did not study the type species of Misumenoides. When describing the species, Caporiacco overlooked the ventral spines on the metatarsi of legs III and IV.	en	Marusik, Yuri M. 885C9B680B782429FF47A4F4D2E7F830.taxon	discussion	Comments. The species is currently placed in Oxytate following the synonymization of Dieta Simon, 1880 with Oxytate L. Koch, 1878 by Song et al. (1982). Based on habitus and male palpal morphology, the placement of D. argentoculata within Oxytate appears correct. Caporiacco's (1940: fig. 3) single illustration of the male palp provides limited detail; it fails to show the retrolateral conical tibial outgrowth or clearly depict the embolus course and length. Oxytate jannonei resembles O. argentoculata but differs in having: (1) a longer embolus originating from the center of the tegulum (vs. originating from approximately the 7 o'clock position), and (2) a distinct conical retrolateral outgrowth on the tibia (vs. lacking such an outgrowth).	en	Marusik, Yuri M. 885C9B680B79242FFF47A7FCD02CFE97.taxon	discussion	Comments. The species is known only from the original descrption. Caporiacco (1955) reported numerous males and females from Maiquetía and Caracas, along with additional specimens from other localities. Both sexes were illustrated. Berlandini & Whitman (2003) mentioned only two syntypes — a male and a juvenile female — deposited in Florence. It appears that most specimens, are deposited at the Museo de Biología, Universidad Central de Venezuela in Caracas (Caporiacco, 1955). Based on its body shape, abdominal pattern, male palpal morphology, and especially an epigyne featuring a scape-like structure unknown in other thomisids, this species is unrelated to the generotype S. globosum (Fabricius, 1775). Consequently, it is very likely that the genus is entirely absent from the New World.	en	Marusik, Yuri M. 885C9B680B7E242EFF47A7F3D561FF27.taxon	discussion	Comments. This species is known from a single taxonomic entry. Judging from the habitus, pattern, and shape of the epigyne, it undoubtedly belongs to Synema. Although the abdominal pattern in specimens from two localities looks similar, their epigynes are rather different: the specimen from Arero has a broader transverse plate. The figure of epigyne provided by Caporiacco (1939) was printed upside down (Fig. 6 F).	en	Marusik, Yuri M.
