Holotype: male (NMK-Ar 29685), Mzima Springs (2 ° 59.049 ′ S, 38 ° 1.383 ′ E, elev. 684 m), Tsavo West National Park, Mtito Andei Town, Taita-Taveta County, Kenya, 27 July 2016, G. M. Kioko, Z. Yao and Q. Zhao leg. Paratypes: 2 males and 3 females (NMK-Ar 29686 – 29690), same data as holotype. Etymology. The specific name is a patronym in honor of the collector Qingyuan Zhao, and is a noun (name) in genitive case. Diagnosis. This species resembles B. nigrescens Berland, 1920 (see Huber 2003: 568, figs 6, 30, 92 – 98) with similar procursus (Figs 1 A – D) and epigynum (Fig. 2 A) but can be distinguished by males with pedipalpal femur with proximo-dorsal apophysis (arrow in Fig. 1 B). In addition, males present larger cheliceral proximo-lateral apophysis (Figs 2 D – E), extremely swollen cheliceral frontal apophysis with distal projection (Fig. 2 E), and relatively short and wide bulbal apophysis (Fig. 2 C) than B. nigrescens; and females present larger pore plates than B. nigrescens (Fig. 2 B). Description. Male (holotype): Total length 2.13 (2.50 with clypeus), carapace 0.66 long, 0.91 wide, opisthosoma 1.47 long, 1.14 wide. Leg I: 22.01 (5.45 + 0.44 + 5.64 + 8.08 + 2.40), leg II: 14.02 (3.85 + 0.45 + 3.44 + 4.87 + 1.41), leg III: 10.69 (3.01 + 0.36 + 2.66 + 3.64 + 1.02), leg IV: 13.54 (3.97 + 0.40 + 3.36 + 4.84 + 0.97); tibia I L / d: 56. Distance PME-PME 0.18; diameter PME 0.06; distance PME-ALE 0.02; AME absent. Sternum wider than long (0.70 / 0.63). Habitus as in Fig. 2 F. Carapace yellowish, with dark brown lateral marks; ocular area, clypeus and sternum dark brown. Legs yellowish, but slightly whitish on distal parts of femora and tibiae, with darker rings on subdistal parts of femora and tibiae. Opisthosoma yellowish, with distinctive dark brown pattern. Ocular area slightly elevated. Thoracic furrow absent. Chelicerae as in Figs 2 D – E, with pair of proximo-lateral apophyses, pair of extremely swollen frontal apophyses, each provided with small projection and strong modified setae distally, and pair of distal apophyses, each provided with four teeth. Pedipalps as in Figs 1 A – B; coxa with ventral apophysis; trochanter with retrolatero-ventral apophysis; femur with large proximo-dorsal apophysis (arrow in Fig. 1 B); trichobothria on tibia very distal; procursus simple, with three membranous process distally; bulb with weakly sclerotized embolus and short apophysis provided with two small apophyses (arrows in Fig. 2 C). Retrolateral trichobothrium of tibia I at 6 %; legs with vertical setae on metatarsi, without spines and curved setae; tarsus I with 12 distinct pseudosegments. Female: Similar to male, habitus as in Figs 2 G – I. Total length 2.02 (2.38 with clypeus), carapace 0.55 long, 0.86 wide, opisthosoma 1.47 long, 1.13 wide; tibia I: 4.87; tibia I L / d: 51. Distance PME-PME 0.15; diameter PME 0.06; distance PME-ALE 0.04; AME absent. Sternum wider than long (0.58 / 0.50). Epigynum (Fig. 2 A) with straight scape anteriorly. Vulva (Fig. 2 B) with pair of large pore plates. Distribution. Kenya (Taita-Taveta, type locality; Fig. 7). Natural History. Yao and Q. Zhao leg. Etymology. The specific name is a patronym in honor of Wanyoike Wamiti (National Museums of Kenya), who helps us during the field collection in Kenya, and is a noun (name) in genitive case. Diagnosis. This species resembles B. kadogo Huber, 2003 (see Huber 2003: 562, figs 1, 26, 51 – 57, 71 – 79) with similar prolateral view of procursus (Figs 3 A, C) but can be distinguished by shorter male cheliceral frontal apophysis without distal projections (Fig. 4 C), procursus without sclerotized retrolateral apophyses (Figs 3 B, D) and by bulbal apophysis with two branches (Fig. 4 A). Description. Male (holotype): Total length 2.06 (2.25 with clypeus), carapace 0.81 long, 0.95 wide, opisthosoma 1.25 long, 0.88 wide. Leg I: 14.92 (3.56 + 0.40 + 3.80 + 5.13 + 2.03), leg II: 8.89 (2.25 + 0.39 + 2.19 + 2.81 + 1.25), leg III: 6.89 (1.88 + 0.34 + 1.66 + 2.20 + 0.81), leg IV: 8.84 (2.40 + 0.38 + 2.25 + 2.97 + 0.84); tibia I L / d: 35. Distance PME-PME 0.08; diameter PME 0.08; distance PME-ALE 0.04; AME absent. Sternum wider than long (0.65 / 0.60). Habitus as in Figs 4 D – F. Carapace yellowish, with dark brown lateral marks and narrow, dark median line; ocular area and clypeus yellowish; sternum dark brown. Legs yellowish, but slightly whitish on distal parts of femora and tibiae, with darker rings on subdistal parts of femora and tibiae. Opisthosoma yellowish, with distinctive dark brown pattern. Ocular area slightly elevated. Thoracic furrow absent. Chelicerae as in Figs 4 B – C, with pair of proximo-lateral apophyses, pair of swollen frontal apophyses, and pair of distal apophyses, each with four teeth. Paratypes: 2 females (NMK-Ar 29683 – 29684), same data as holotype. Etymology. The specific name refers to the type locality, and is a noun in apposition. Diagnosis. This species resembles S. oromia Huber, 2012 (see Huber 2012: 40, figs 173 – 174, 181, 188 – 189, 198 – 199, 225 – 230) with similar male chelicerae (Fig. 6 E) and epigynum (Fig. 6 A) but can be distinguished by procursus with large, curved prolatero-ventral sclerite distally positioned (arrow in Fig. 5 C), bulb with sclerotized dorsal apophysis (arrow in Fig. 6 C) and by females with anterior arch of vulva strongly protruding medially (arrow in Fig. 6 B). Description. Male (holotype): Total length 3.22 (3.36 with clypeus), carapace 1.14 long, 0.80 wide, opistho- soma 2.08 long, 0.95 wide. Leg I: 24.73 (6.79 + 0.50 + 6.15 + 10.26 + 1.03), leg II: 34.54 (8.97 + 0.50 + 8.65 + 14.87 + 1.55), leg III: 16.36 (4.87 + 0.48 + 3.85 + 6.41 + 0.75), leg IV: 24.26 (7.05 + 0.50 + 6.03 + 9.74 + 0.94); tibia I L / d: 52. Distance PME-PME 0.15; diameter PME 0.08; distance PME-ALE 0.06; distance AME-AME 0.03; diameter AME 0.08. Sternum wider than long (0.75 / 0.63). Habitus as in Fig. 6 F. Carapace yellowish, with median and lateral brown marks; ocular area yellowish; clypeus yellowish, with pair of brown stripes; sternum yellowish, with brownish marks. Legs brownish, but slightly whitish on distal parts of femur and tibiae, with darker rings on subdistal parts of femora and tibiae. Opisthosoma yellowish, with distinctive dark brown pattern. Ocular area slightly elevated, secondary eyes (cf. fig. 215 in Huber 2012) with barely visible ‘ pseudo-lenses’; thoracic pit deep. Chelicerae as in Fig. 6 E, with pair of small distal apophyses. Pedipalps as in Figs 5 A – B; coxa without retrolateral apophysis; trochanter barely modified; femur with shallow retrolateral furrow (cf. fig. 344 in Huber 2012); cym- bium without projection near tarsal organ; procursus simple proximally but complex distally, with large, curved prolatero-ventral sclerite distally (arrow in Fig. 5 C); bulb with sclerotized embolus and sclerotized dorsal apophysis (arrow in Fig. 6 C). Retrolateral trichobothrium of tibia I at 2 %; legs without spines, few vertical setae, with curved setae on metatarsi I – II; prolateral trichobothrium present on tibia I. Female: Similar to male, habitus as in Figs 6 G – H. Total length 3.80 (4.00 with clypeus), carapace 0.96 long, 1.38 wide, opisthosoma 2.84 long, 1.33 wide; tibia I: 8.97; tibia I L / d: 67. Distance PME-PME 0.16; diameter PME 0.09; distance PME-ALE 0.05; distance AME-AME 0.04; diameter AME 0.09. Sternum wider than long (0.95 / 0.71). Epigynum (Fig. 6 A) with simple flat plate, without pockets. Vulva (Fig. 6 B) with sclerotized anterior arch and pair of large pore plates. Distribution. Kenya (Taita-Taveta, type locality; Fig. 7). Natural History.
