C2/3 Antalya: Elmalı, Çamkuyu, the top of Avlankuzu mountain, 1850–1880 m, clearings in Cedrus libani forest and calceoreous slopes, 21 May 2001, Deniz 1573 (holotype: AKDU!, isotypes: ANK, HUB, GAZI)

Typification:— Stapf (1886: 352) reported two collection dates (“ 21.IV.1882 ”, and “ 26.IV.1882 ”) and listed four localities in Lycia. We found five specimens at WU (barcodes 0041609−13, images available at http://herbarium. univie.ac.at/database/) bearing plants collected by F. Luchan in the localities cited in the protologue: they can be considered syntypes (Art. 9.5 of the ICN). Since the specimen WU-0041610 (collection locality: Baba-Dagh, Minara, collection date: 21 april 1882) is the more complete, it is selected as lectotype of the name Silene cryptoneura (e.g., Stapf 1886, Coode & Cullen 1967).

Notes:— Deniz & Düşen (2004) described S. sumbuliana providing an iconography that is clearly based on the holotype cited (see above). Both the specimen, the image, and the description of S. sumbuliana completely matches those of S. cryptoneura, so these names can be considered heterotypic synonyms.

Specimens examined: — TURKEY.
