C779878C9A46222EFECECCBEC87DFCD5.taxon	diagnosis	Diagnosis. Scape and pedicel dark brown to black, flagellum yellow. Third costal section about as long as fourth. Abdomen gray pruinose on tergite 1, anterior and posterior border of tergite 2 and posterolaterally on tergites 3 – 5. Syntergosternite 8 with small membranous area. Inner surstylus strongly developed, longer than outer surstylus. Phallic guide with external side extremely developed. Description. Male: body length 4.5 mm; wing 5.6 mm. Eyes holoptic for a distance of six facets. Frontal triangle and face with gray pruinosity. Scape and pedicel dark brown to black, flagellum yellow. Scutum and scutellum dark brown to black, brown pruinose. Notopleuron, postpronotal lobe and mesopleuron gray pruinose, except mesopleuron near mid and hindcoxae shining, without pruinosity in certain lights. Scutellum with inconspicuous bristles. Legs yellow, except coxae brown and distal tarsomeres brown. Wing with third costal section as long as fourth; vein rm placed near basal third of cell dm. Halter with stem yellow, knob brown to black. Abdomen (Fig. 1) dark brown to black, subshining, gray pruinose on tergite 1, anterior and posterior border of tergite 2 and posterolaterally on tergites 3 – 5; tergite 1 with 1 – 2 black bristles laterally. Syntergosternite 8 black, longer than tergite 5, with small membranous area. Sternites 6 and 7 gray pruinose. Epandrium and surstyli (Fig. 2) yellow. Surstyli asymmetrical, the inner strongly developed, longer than outer surstylus; in lateral view as in Figs. 3, 4. Phallic guide as in Fig. 5. Phallus as in Fig. 6. Ejaculatory apodeme as in Fig. 7. One male specimen has very similar terminalia. It differs slightly from holotype by the shape of the surstylus. Unfortunately the terminalia was lost and we prefer not to designate it as a paratype. Female. One female probably belongs here. It is not being designated paratype because we are not secure of the association with the male. Material. Holotype: male (INPA). Verbatim text of three pin labels: NICARAGUA, Granada, Volcán Mombacho, El Progreso, 700 m [white paper] / 15. ii. 1998, J. M. Maes, Malaise trap [white paper] / Holotype ɗ, Elmohardyia nicaraguensis Rafael [red paper]. Terminalia placed in a microvial with glycerine and pinned along with the specimen. Other specimen: San Joaquin # 1, 31. iii. 1998 (1 ɗ MEL, terminalia lost); Santa Ana # 3, 18. ii. 1999 (1 Ψ MEL). Etymology. The specific name refers to the country Nicaragua. Remarks. E. nicaraguensis sp. n. is near E. replicata (Hardy) in the similar pattern of abdominal pruinosity and surstyli shape. It is different by the shape of the hypandrium, notably by the extremely developed external side of the phallic guide.	en	Rafael, José Albertino, Ale-Rocha, Rosaly (2004): Nicaraguan Pipunculidae (Diptera): new records and description of new species. M. Maes, Malaise trap [white paper] / Holotype ɗ, Eudorylas vulcanus Rafael [red paper]. Terminalia placed in a microvial with glycerine and pinned along with the specimen. Etymology. The specific name refers to the place where the specimens were collected, Volcán Mombacho. From Latin vulcanus (= volcano). Remarks. D. vulcanus, sp. n. is close to D. nigripedes. It differs by conspicuous gray pruinosity on posterior margin of tergites (brown pruinose and inconspicuous in nigripedes) and a bifid phallus (trifid in nigripedes).	en	Rafael, José Albertino, Ale-Rocha, Rosaly (2004): Nicaraguan Pipunculidae (Diptera): new records and description of new species. C779878C9A482225FECECA93C808FADD.taxon	diagnosis	Diagnosis. Wing anal lobe widened. Hind trochanter with rounded ventral process. Hind tarsomeres slender; first hind tarsomere as long as the three following segments together. Surstyli very wide, as long as the epandrium. Description (ɗ). Body length 3.5 mm; wings 3.3 mm. Eyes contiguous on the frons for about 10 facets; ocellar triangle as long as half of length of the contiguous area of eyes; postcranium black, silvery pruinose; frontal triangle silvery pruinose; antennae brown, anterior margin of flagellum pale yellow. Thorax: scutum and scutellum black, mesopleuron dark brown; postsutural region brown pruinose; presutural and postalar region, scutellum, subscutellum, laterotergite and notopleuron silverygray pruinose; mesopleuron sparsely silverygray pruinose; setae short, inconspicuous. Wing hyaline; third costal section as long as one third of the fourth; anal lobe widened. Legs dark brown except apex of femora, basal one fourth of the tibiae and ventral surface of the tarsi yellow; tibiae apex and dorsal surface of the tarsi pale brown, first and fifth tarsi slightly darkened; forefemur with an inconspicuous pair of subbasal spines; hind trochanter (Fig. 38) with rounded ventral process; hind tarsomeres slender, first tarsomere as long as the three following segments together. Abdomen wide, black, brown pruinose dorsally, silverygray pruinose laterally on tergites 1, 4 and 5. Syntergoesternite 8 short, narrow, about half of length of tergite 5, setae inconspicuous. Terminalia as in Fig. 39. Surstyli in lateral view as in Figs. 40, 41. Phallic guide and phallus as in Fig. 43. Ejaculatory apodeme as in Fig. 43. Female unknown. Material. Holotype ɗ (CAS). Verbatim text of two pin labels: MEXICO: Sonora, Alamos, 5. i. 1971, P. H. & M. Arnaud [white paper] / Holotype ɗ, Tomosvaryella crassa Ale Rocha [red paper]. Terminalia and left hind leg placed in a microvial with glycerine and pinned along with the specimen. Paratypes: MEXICO: Sonora, 134 road Km, south Sonoyta, 15. ii. 1963, P. H. Arnaud, Jr. (1 ɗ CAS); NICARAGUA, Masaya, Masatepe, ii. 1995, s / citrus + Malezas, Projeto NIM (2 ɗ INPA, MEL). Type conditions: abdomen and right hindleg of type in tube with glycerine. Etymology. The specific name refers to the broad surstyli. From Latin crassus, thick. Remarks. T. crassa can be included in dichotomy 9 of the key of AleRocha and Rafael (1995). The large size and form of the hind trochanter suggest that it is closely related to T. membranacea AleRocha & Rafael and T. mexicanensis AleRocha & Rafael. It differs from both species by the lack of long bristles on the hind femur, short and narrow epandrium, wide, large surstyli and phallic guide without dorsal thorns.	en	Rafael, José Albertino, Ale-Rocha, Rosaly (2004): Nicaraguan Pipunculidae (Diptera): new records and description of new species.
