D46487FEAB3D5B65FF06FB72FA22F83D.taxon	discussion	Remarks. If the macrochaetotaxy of Th II and Abd III is considered simultaneously, only a single species of the genus share the presence of the simplified formula for these tergites (2 - 4 and 1 - 2 - 1): E. dorsolineata Jordana, Schulz & Baquero, 2011, with a differentiated colour pattern based on longitudinal dorsolateral lines; additionally E. dorsolineata has differences in the macrochaeta formula (4 - 2 - 0 - 3 - 1 b / 2 - 4 / 2 - 5 / 1 - 2 - 1 / 0 - 1 0 7 - 0 - 3 - 3 in E. dorsolineata) and other morphological characters — the development of a subapical tooth on the mucro (bigger than apical), the shape of the labral papillae (with a projection chaeta-like) or the length of the antennae, shorter in E. dorsolineata. Other species from the Canary Islands described below in this paper (Entomobrya grimanesae sp. nov., E. guayarminae sp. nov. and Entomobrya cf. quinquelineata) share the macrochaetae formula Th II, Abd II and III tergites, but the colour pattern is completely different. Table 1 shows that five, nine and four characters separate these species respectively. ...... continued on the next page	en	Baquero, Enrique, Jordana, Rafael (2018): Entomobrya (Collembola, Entomobryidae) for the Canary Islands. If the macrochaetotaxy of Abd II and Abd III is considered simultaneously, only seven species of the genus share the presence of the simplified formula for these tergites (2 - 4 and 1 - 2 - 1): E. arvensis Latzel, 1917, E. kultinalensis Baijal, 1958, E. mesopotamica Rusek, 1981, E. palmensis Jordana & Baquero, 2010, E. rohtangensis Baijal, 1958 sensu Yoshii, 1990, E. striatella Börner, 1909 and E. tuvinica Jordana, Potapov & Baquero, 2011, and three more that are described in this paper (Entomobrya achuteygai sp. nov., Entomobrya atteneri sp. nov., and Entomobrya guacimarae sp. nov.), share this formula. The chaetotaxy of the head and Th II separate it from E. arvensis, E. kultinalensis, E. mesopotamica, E. rothangensis and E. striatella. The lateral process of labial papillae E, reaching 1 / 3 of the papilla end, separates it from E. palmensis, E. atteneri sp. nov., and E. guacimarae sp. nov. Entomobrya achutegai sp. nov. is also separated by nine different characters, as shown in Table 2.	en	Baquero, Enrique, Jordana, Rafael (2018): Entomobrya (Collembola, Entomobryidae) for the Canary Islands. D46487FEAB325B6FFF06FF45FC29FC30.taxon	discussion	Remarks. This species has a characteristic colour pattern with five more or less broad transversal bands on the body — anterior Th II, complete Th III, posterior Abd II, complete Abd III and posterior Abd IV — not shared with any other Entomobrya species. If the macrochaetotaxy of Abd III is considered, only five species of the genus share the presence of the simplified formula for these tergites (1 - 1 - 1), but these species have a different number of Mc on Th II and Abd II: E. colettae Cassagnau, 1964 (2 - 3 / 2 - 3), E. corticalis (Nicolet, 1842) (1 - 3 / 0 - 2) after Rondani (1861), E. nigrocincta Denis, 1923 (2 - 3 / 1 - 2), E. quadrata Lee & Park, 1984 (3 - 5 / 2 - 4) and E. stebaevae Jordana, Potapov & Baquero, 2011 (1 - 2 / 1 - 2). In addition, the new species has a great reduction in Mc on Abd IV, with only six Mc on areas A 8 – A 10 (simplified formula for Abd IV: 0 - 0 - 2 - 2 - 2).	en	Baquero, Enrique, Jordana, Rafael (2018): Entomobrya (Collembola, Entomobryidae) for the Canary Islands. D46487FEAB335B72FF06FBF4FA23F83C.taxon	discussion	Remarks. If the macrochaetotaxy of Abd II and Abd III is considered simultaneously, only seven species of the genus share the presence of the simplified formula for these tergites (2 - 4 and 1 - 2 - 1): E. arvensis Latzel, 1917, E. kultinalensis Baijal, 1958, E. mesopotamica Rusek, 1981, E. palmensis Jordana & Baquero, 2010. E. rohtangensis Baijal, 1958 sensu Yoshii, 1990, E. striatella Börner, 1909, E. tuvinica Jordana, Potapov & Baquero, 2011 along with three new species from the Canary Islands described in this paper (E. achuteygai sp. nov., E. guacimarae sp. nov. and E. airami sp. nov.) Only E. arvensis, E. palmensis, E. achuteygai sp. nov., E. guacimarae sp. nov. and E. airami sp. nov. share with the new species the formula 2 - 4 for Th II; the new species can be differentiated from these species by the Mc formula for the Abd IV 0 - 0 - 3 - 2 - 2 for E. arvensis and 0 - 2 - 3 - 2 - 2 for E. palmensis, 0 - 2 (3) - 3 - 2 - 2 for E. achuteygai sp. nov. and E. airimii sp. nov. E. guacimarae (with identical principal chaetotaxy) is separated by five characters, and all are compared in Table 3. The colour pattern and the eye size on E. arvensis are quite different (no colour on Th II and Th III and large eyes on G & H). The colour of E. palmensis is similar but the Mc formula with chaetae on Area A 6 of Abd IV is enough to separate the two species. The general colour pattern for this species could be confused with species such as E. multifasciata (Tullberg, 1871) or the female of E. nigrocincta Denis, 1923 (both of which are present in the Canary Islands), but the Mc formula (included in this paper for the two species) allows the differentiation. ...... continued on the next page	en	Baquero, Enrique, Jordana, Rafael (2018): Entomobrya (Collembola, Entomobryidae) for the Canary Islands. D46487FEAB2A5B77FF06FBEEFDB2F826.taxon	discussion	Remarks. If the macrochaetotaxy of Th II and Abd II – III is considered simultaneously, no species of Entomobrya previously described with the chaetotaxy shares the presence of the simplified formula for these tergites (2 - 4 / 2 - 3 / 1 - 2 - 1). Two Canary Islands species described in this paper (E. cf. quinquelineata and E. grimanesae sp. nov.) share the macrochaeta formula for these three tergites. The colour pattern is completely different, as shown in the plates of photographs and colour pattern; additionally, the differences in labral papillae are clearly multispinose on E. grimanesae sp. nov. and E. cf. quinquelineata and smooth on the sp. nov.; A 6 is present on the on the head of the sp. nov. and absent on both related species; the chaetotaxy of Abd IV is different (1 - 4) on areas A 6 and A 7 on the sp. nov. and 0 - 0 (2) or 0 - 2 for E. grimanesae sp. nov. and E. cf. quinquelineata, respectively. Furthermore, E. grimanesae sp. nov. has the dorsal tooth of the claw near at level of lateral teeth, and this tooth is basal in the sp. nov..	en	Baquero, Enrique, Jordana, Rafael (2018): Entomobrya (Collembola, Entomobryidae) for the Canary Islands. D46487FEAB235B7DFF06FB6DFEA6FBA6.taxon	discussion	Remarks. Only E. naziridisi shares its chaetotaxy on Th II, Abd II and Abd III with the new species, but they differ by the Abd IV chaetotaxy, with one Mc on A 6 area (sometimes absent) and five Mc on area A 8 and a longer apical tooth on mucro. The colour is quite different, completely dark on E. naziridisi. After the paper of Ding et al., 2018 about relationship between DNA perfil and colour, we think that this form, so different that the described E. irayae sp. nov, could be a different species but it is overlapped in the Tenerife Island with the wider distribution of the sp nov.	en	Baquero, Enrique, Jordana, Rafael (2018): Entomobrya (Collembola, Entomobryidae) for the Canary Islands. D46487FEAB215B40FF06FB4AFB6DFC1E.taxon	discussion	Remarks. The species has a very wide distribution around the world. Table 6 details the differences in species that can be confused with E. multifasciata, such as E. luqueensis Baquero, Arbea & Jordana, 2010, E. vadelli Jordana & Baquero, 2005 (in: Jordana et al. 2005), E. flavovirens Furgoł, 2017 and E. nigrocincta, whose female has great colour similarity to E. multifasciata. It is separated from E. nigrocincta by the chaetotaxy of Abd III: 1 - 1 - 1. It is separated from the others by colour: the absence of colour in E. flavovirens, and almost no colour in E. vadelli, a cave Entomobrya with a spot on the side of Abd IV. Entomobrya. luqueensis is similar in colour to E. multifasciata, although somewhat more intense, but it differs in that it lacks Mc S 4 in area H 4 of the head, it always has four Mc in area A 6 of Abd IV, and Mc A 3 and B 3 are present in area A 7 of the same segment.	en	Baquero, Enrique, Jordana, Rafael (2018): Entomobrya (Collembola, Entomobryidae) for the Canary Islands. D46487FEAB1C5B41FF06FB82FEAFF8E1.taxon	discussion	Remarks. The description of this species has been considered in this paper, although there are only two specimens because it is the only new species found from El Hierro Island. If the macrochaetotaxy of Th II, Abd II and Abd III is considered simultaneously, only one species, E. nevadensis Steiner, 1959 has the same number of Mc on Th II, Abd II and Abd III / 4 - 4 / 2 - 3 / 1 - 2 - 1. The Mc m 1, m 2, m 2 i and m 2 i 2 are present on the T 1 area of E. nevadensis, while the four Mc on the sp. nov. are m 1, m 1 e, m 2 and m 2 i; they also differ on the Mc distribution on Abd IV 5 - 2 - 1 0 3 - 1 0 2 - 2 with two unpaired Mc (A 0 4 and A 0 5) instead of 3 - 5 - 3 - 2 - 2 on the sp. nov., and in the comparison of the claw, as shown in Figs 17 E and 17 G, both drawings from the types. In addition to the colour pattern, two dorsolateral rows of dark spots from Th II to Abd III (Fig. 3 F’) are quite different from the sp. nov. E. nevadensis has only A 5 present on the H 2 area of the head, and it has on Abd IV with Mc formula 5 - 2 - 1 0 3 - 1 0 2 - 2, different from the sp. nov.	en	Baquero, Enrique, Jordana, Rafael (2018): Entomobrya (Collembola, Entomobryidae) for the Canary Islands. D46487FEAB1D5B47FF06F886FEBCFC72.taxon	discussion	Remarks. A small difference with the specimens of other parts of the world is observed: the presence of an additional mesochaeta (a 3) on the Abd II area A 1. Following the remark for E. atrocincta (pag. 102) and E. nigrocincta (p. 153) in Jordana (2012) it is explained that there is confusion between the denomination of E. atrocincta and E. nigrocincta since the book of Salmon (1944), which subsequent authors have followed. Katz et al. (2015 b) already referred to this problem but for the American population, in which they find colour and chaetotaxy variations. In future studies, the similarity of the American, European and Australian species should be studied, including DNA analysis. The chaetotaxy and the male’s colour separate this species from other species of the world.	en	Baquero, Enrique, Jordana, Rafael (2018): Entomobrya (Collembola, Entomobryidae) for the Canary Islands. D46487FEAB185B4AFF06F9ACFDC4FDF8.taxon	discussion	Remarks. The colour pattern indicates that the observed specimens could be E. cf. quinquelineata, although four constant differences occur in the four specimens from the Canary Islands: a multispinose labral papillae, three Mc on H 4 area of the head, four Mc on T 2 area on Th II, three Mc on m 3 series on Abd II and a Ratio Abd IV / Abd III> 4. These characteristics distinguish it from E. quinquelineata. Other species have a similar colour pattern, and these are compared on Table 1. The species E. grimanesae sp. nov. shares all considered chaetotaxy with E. cf. quinquelineata (Table 1) but the species are separated by two characteristics: lateral process of labial papilla E reaching to the papilla end, and claw dorsal tooth at level of internal teeth in E. grimanesae sp. nov., while in E. cf. quinquelineata the lateral process is short (1 / 3) not reaching the papilla end, and the dorsal tooth of claw is basal. Furthermore, the colour is completely different. One specimen from Artenara, with the same capture date, is juvenile and has 1 - 0 - 1 Mc on Abd III, and has not been taken into account in the description.	en	Baquero, Enrique, Jordana, Rafael (2018): Entomobrya (Collembola, Entomobryidae) for the Canary Islands. D46487FEAB165B48FF06FDBCFBE5FE84.taxon	discussion	Remarks. The eyes GH in the original description of the species are smaller than in the specimens from the Canary Islands. Other differences from previous descriptions: H 4 and H 5 on the head, T 1 on Th II, and unpaired chaetae on Abd IV (Table 7). The dorsal macrochaetotaxy for the Abd II and III is the same, which has proven very consistent in many other species of Entomobrya. Note that the description of Jordana (2012) is made based on a single specimen, although it is the Holotype. Table 7 shows the studied specimens of the Canary Islands, and the holotype shows only six differences for 48 chaetotaxy characters considered. In addition, the Canarian specimens and those observed by Katz et al. (2015 b) from North America show a maximum of seven differences, three of which are the absence of unpaired macrochaetae on the Abd IV. In conclusion, the species E. unostrigata can be considered to have the following simplified formula: 3 - 1 - 0 - 3 - 2 (3) / 1 (2) - 4 / 2 - 4 (3,5) / 1 - 0 - 1 / 4 (2 – 5) - 1 0 (0) 4 (5) - 1 0 (0) 1 (2) - 1 0 (0) 2 (1 – 3) - 2. In Jordana (2012), an error is present in the mucro description, where the teeth are said to be similar in size, whereas in the original description, the subapical tooth is smaller than the apical one.	en	Baquero, Enrique, Jordana, Rafael (2018): Entomobrya (Collembola, Entomobryidae) for the Canary Islands.
