Rhabdonema arcuatum (Lyngbye) Kützing (Figure 36)

Description: length 86–92, width 8–12 µm, striae 6–8 in 10 µm.
Remarks: Three specimens were observed in the whole material. This is an epiphytic species and seldom found in the plankton or attached to sediment grains.
Ecology and distribution: A marine species mostly found in warm and temperate waters but also reported from the sub-Arctic (Poulin et al. 1984b) and the Arctic (von Quillfeldt 2000) and from Antarctica (Al-Handal and Wulff 2008b). Rare in Potter Cove.
