Distribution. The species has been reported across a wide geographic range. Records for the species have been published for Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Costa Rica, French Guiana, Guyana, Paraguay, Suriname, St. Lucia, the Antilles, Trinidad, Uruguay, and Venezuela (Metcalf 1963a; Duffels & van der Laan 1985; Sanborn 2011a, b, 2013, 2014, 2019 a, 2020e; Sanborn & Heath 2014; Nunes et al. 2023). The species has been incorrectly reported from Panama (Sanborn 2018b), Peru (Sanborn 2020a), and Ecuador (Sanborn 2020c). The validity of some of the synonymized species may redefine the range further.
