Carineta illustris Distant 1905d: 485 (Amazonas).

Remarks. The specimens listed by Sanborn (2011a) of Carineta illustris were the only record for the species in French Guiana. These specimens were shown to be the similar species Carineta cearana (Sanborn 2016a) . Carineta illustris was removed from the French Guiana cicada fauna at that time.
