Distribution. This species ranges across central Africa, from Cameroon to Uganda. In Equatorial Guinea it has been recorded both in Bioko at Musola (Boulenger 1906; Capocaccia 1961a) and in Río Muni at Monte Alén National Park (Lasso et al. 2002) (Map 32A).
Comments. Some authors recognize two subspecies (Spawls et al. 2018), the nominal B. depressiceps depressiceps, which is present in Equatorial Guinea, and B. depressiceps marlieri from Democratic Republic of the Congo, whereas other authors consider them with full species status (Chippaux & Jackson 2019). The phylogenetic position of the genus Buhoma is a matter of discussion (Zaher et al. 2019).
Specimens examined. No specimens of this taxon have been found in the examined collections.
