Comments. The genus Monopeltis is sister to the South African genus Dalophia (Gray, 1865) (Measey & Tolley 2013) . The phylogenetic relationships of M. galeata in relation to other congeneric species remain unknown. A comprehensive revision of this species was provided by Gans & Lehman (1973). The single known specimen of M. galeata from Equatorial Guinea (Corisco Island), currently held at the ANSP and labelled as ANSP 9682, is a possible paralectotype (Gans & Lehman 1973).
