Hemidactylus Oken, 1817

The genus Hemidactylus is divided into four genetically distinct and geographically almost exclusive clades (Carranza & Arnold 2006). The species living in Iran belong to the arid clade ( H. persicus, H. robustus, H. turcicus, and probably also H. romeshkanicus) and to the tropical Asian clade ( H. flaviviridis).
