Laudakia melanura Blyth, 1854
TYPE. Not located (Baig et al. 2012).
TYPE LOCALITY. Salt Range, Punjab, Pakistan fide Smith (1935) .
DISTRIBUTION. NW Punjab, Sind and Baluchistan (Pakistan) .
DISTRIBUTION IN IRAN. Fig. 9. Only a putative member of the Iranian herpetofauna for long until Rajabizadeh & Rastegar-Pouyani (2009) confirmed its occurrence in Sistan and Baluchistan Prov.
HABITAT. Cliffs, boulders and rock crevices. Syntopic with L. nupta in SW Pakistan.
REMARKS. The existence of the subspecies L. m. lirata (Blanford) to which all Iranian specimens have been referred is not supported by Baig et al. (2012). The distinguishing characters (carinated scales and coloration) are apparently inconsistent and therefore not sufficient to recognize this form as an independent subspecies.
