Eoophyla platyxantha sp. n.

Type locality: Cameroon, Korup Park .

Imago (Fig. 74): Wingspan 14–17mm. Head white; labial palpus slender, upcurved, segment 3 longer than segment 2, segment 1 with small tuft of dark hairs beneath; maxillary palpus porrect; antenna dull pale orange. Thorax whitish. Forewing ground colour whit; a pale yellow oblique antemedian fascia; fuscous spot on costa at about ½; pale yellow wedge-shaped costal strigula well before apex, outwardly edged fuscous; wide wedge before yellow termen, tornal spot silver-grey surrounded by yellow; a series of fuscous dots along termen. Hindwing base white; yellow antemedian fascia; white median area; broad orange-yellow postmedian fascia; white before three black terminal eyespots, each bearing silver metallic dots, 1 and 3 almost divided by narrow yellow wedges. Abdomen and legs ochreous white.

Genitalia: Not examined.

Diagnosis: Distinguished from all other species of Eoophyla by the alternating broad white and orange-yellow bands of the hindwing.

Derivation: From the Greek platus meaning broad and xanthos meaning yellow, from the hindwing markings.

Biology: Unknown, the specimen from Cameroon was found at rest by day on Bolbitis .

Distibution: Cameroon and D.R. Congo.

Material examined: Holotype ♀ identified by a red-circled holotype label, also Coll. Mus. Tervuren| Cameroon: Korup| Park Day| 20-2-1989 | Oper. Raleigh 17A; 1 paratype without abdomen, same data as holotype.
