Nymphicula perirrorata (Hampson, 1917) comb. n.

Type locality: Ghana: Kumasi .

Imago (Fig. 33): Wingspan 9–13mm. Head whitish mixed pale fuscous; labial palpus whitish fuscous, curved upwards, segment 3 long and slender; antenna pale fuscous with whitish scales at joints. Thorax ochreous mixed pale fuscous. Forewing white, costa straight, suffused fuscous; yellow subbasal and antemedian oblique fasciae; central part of wing creamy white with a scattering of dark fuscous scales in a triangular shape of which the dorsum forms one side; a leaden tornal spot; two yellow fasciae forming a V-shape standing just beyond tornal spot; some fuscous silver scales before a yellow strigula along termen; terminal cilia fuscous. Hindwing base white, median area densely scattered with dark fuscous scales; a dark fuscous subterminal line; five conjoined terminal eyespots, a silver dash between them.

Male genitalia (Fig. 101): Uncus long and slender; gnathos similar, 2/3 length of uncus; valva long and slender, dorsum straight, costa evenly curved, length about 5x width. Aedeagus cylindrical, vesica with cornuti comprising a large cluster of spines, about 20 in number. A pair of hair pencils in the abdomen, slightly longer than segment 8.

Female genitalia (Fig. 155): Ostial chamber large, cylindrical then constricted towards colliculum which comprises a broad sclerotised plate; corpus bursae elongate, without signum, membrane becoming more weakly sclerotised anteriorly.

Tympanal organs: Venulae long and waisted, further apart anteriorly; tympanum projecting forwards.

Diagnosis: Differs from other African Nymphicula spp. in having the tornal spot on the inside of the yellow terminal markings of the forewing.

Biology: Unknown. Adults recorded ii–iii, iv, vi, vii, viii, x, xi.

Distribution: West Africa.
