Type locality: Nigeria, Sapele.

Imago (Fig 9): Wingspan 13–19mm. Head and palpi white; antenna pale ochreous. Thorax whitish. Forewing white; dark fuscous spots beneath subcostal vein at 2/5 and 3/5; an oblique yellow postmedian fascia; a yellow subterminal fascia outwardly edged fuscous; termen yellow. Hindwing white; a dark fuscous discal spot; an obscure oblique yellow median fascia; a yellow subterminal band as in forewing; yellow terminal band edged fuscous; termen with a series of black spots each adjacent to a slight indentation in the outer edge of terminal band. Abdomen white, ringed yellow.

In f. piperitalis (Fig. 10): all white areas are heavily suffused fuscous.

Male genitalia (Fig. 88): Uncus digitate, evenly curved downwards with some setae throughout its length; gnathos ¾ length of uncus, slightly curved towards it; valva tapered towards apex in outer half. Aedeagus simple, tapered towards tip where it is lightly sclerotised. Sternum 8 with a pair of pointed projections (Fig. 88c).

Female genitalia (Fig. 138): Ostium narrow; ductus long and slender, in situ with two spiral loops before corpus bursae; corpus bursae ellipsoidal; weakly scobinate; signa a pair of longitudinal sclerotised patches. Overall length equal to that of abdomen.

Tympanal organs: Venulae long and outwardly concave; ramus tympani drawn out posteriorly, tympani extended anteriorly.

Diagnosis: Distinguished from other Parapoynx species by the discal spot on the forewing together with a black dash halfway between that spot and the thorax.

Biology unknown, adults taken in ii, vi–xi.

Distribution: Sudan, Uganda, D.R. Congo, Nigeria, Niger, Benin, Côte d’Ivoire, The Gambia, Senegal.

Material examined: Holotype ♀ R. Niger, Sapele, F.W. Sampson; Holotype ♀ of Oligostigma piperitalis, N. Nigeria, Zungeru, 15.xi.1911 Scott Macfie (BMNH).
