Rhopobota baoxingensis sp. nov.

Diagnosis. This species can be separated from its congeners by the oval cucullus with a ventral prominence bearing short thick setae, and the sacculus with a long lobe on the ventral edge of the basal opening. It is similar to R. orbiculata Zhang, Li & Wang in the shape of valva but can be distinguished by the slender, bifid arms of the uncus and a ventral prominence on the cucullus. In R. orbiculata the bifid arms of the uncus are sickle-like, and the cucullus has no ventral prominence.

Description. Adult (Fig. 1). Head: Vertex with gray scales, frons white. Antenna pale brown. Labial palpus slender, pale brown, except third segment and end of second segment gray. Thorax: Dorsum and tegula grayish brown. Forewing length 6.0 mm; elongate triangular; upperside ground color grayish yellow; fasciae undefined; basal fascia and subbasal fascia forming a small indistinct basal patch, protruding medially on outer side; large brown patch situated outside of cell; brown scales forming a small triangular patch in postmedian position below apex; speculum small, grayish yellow; costa with nine pairs of white strigulae from base to apex: strigulae 1-4 between base and the point where Sc meets costa, strigulae 3 and 4 including two pairs of short striae; strigulae 5 and 6 between Sc and R1; distal three pairs distributed between pairs of veins R1-R2, R2-R3, R3-R4; cilia gray. Hindwing and cilia gray. Legs gray, with brown scales on tibiae and tarsi. Abdomen: Male genitalia (Fig. 6) with uncus bearing bifid arms, slender, distal 2/5 bending outward; socius long digitate, hairy. Valva broad; sacculus with a long lobe and a moderately large horn on ventral and distal edges of basal opening respectively; cucullus oval, hairy, with dense marginal setae and a ventral prominence bearing short thick setae. Phallus broad and short, conical, with numerous deciduous cornuti (lost). Female unknown.

Holotype. Male, CHINA: Sichuan Province: Baoxing County (30.22˚N, 102.50˚E), 1600 m, 2.viii. 2004 (Yingdang Ren), genitalia slide no. ZAH04295.

Paratype. 1 male, same data as holotype, except 1100 m, 5.viii.2004.

Etymology. The specific name is from the type locality.
