Genus Craspedochiton Shuttleworth, 1853

Type species. Chiton laqueatus Sowerby, 1841, by monotypy.

Distribution. Atlantic (African coast) and temperate and tropical Indo-Pacific.The fossil record extends back to the upper Eocene or lower Oligocene in Washington, U.S.A. (Dell’Angelo et al. 2011a), and the Miocene to the Pleistocene of Europe (Dell’Angelo et al. 2004, 2016; Studencka & Dulai 2010).
