Epipleoneura protostictoides (Fraser, 1946)

(Fig. 29)

Protoneura protostictoides Fraser 1946: 458 –459 (new species, male description, holotype with S9–10 lost, type material at BMNH).

Epipleoneura lamina Garrison 1991: 29 (examination of holotype, suggestion of synonymy). Epipleoneura protostictoides von Ellenrieder & Garrison 2008: 28 (retention of the name due to speciose nature of genus). Garrison et al. 2010: 352, 353, fig. 2326–2327 (included in list of species, illustrations of genital ligula in ectal and lateral view).

Diagnosis. Epipleoneura protostictoides is known only from the male holotype, which lacks S9–10. Its genital ligula (Fig. 29), illustrated in Garrison et al. (2010), has a medially narrow segment 3 with sides elevated and apex with a wide U-shaped cleft and lateral corners rounded; postero-lateral projections are directed posteriorly and are pedunculate.

Distribution. Peru (type locality, Mishuyacu, Loreto Department, approx. 50º52’21”N, 73º13’02”W).
