Phrynoidis asper (Gravenhorst, 1829)

Material examined. MNHN 2003.3371 (young male; SVL 48.7 mm), MNHN 2003.3372 (juvenile; SVL 50.5 mm), vicinity of Lubuksao, Province of Sumatera Barat, elev. about 400 m. – Several specimens observed on slopes of Mounts Tigapulan, Province of Riau.

Taxonomic comments. The two young specimens were collected. Parotoid glands are rounded, slightly triangular typical for this species (Inger 1966). Snout is distinctly projecting and tympanum very small; feet are half webbed; highly tuberculated.

Distribution on Sumatra. This species is known from all over Sumatra.

Biology. A relatively common species, in particular near forest creeks; found active by night and sometime at daytime. Observed in August and November.
