Current status: Lixus lecontei Faust, 1883 is a valid species.

Types. In Faust’s collection at SMTD can be found three female specimens glued to cards closely fitting the description of L. lecontei with type locality as “Kasalinsk, Fort Perofsky”. Two of them are in good shape, labeled “[golden square]”, “Perofsky, Balassoglo”, are mounted on the same pin: the upper one is here designated as lectotype and has been labeled “ Lectotypus, Ƥ, Lixus lecontei Faust, Gültekin des. 2008” (Fig. 8), whilst the other was selected as paralectotype. Another female pinned through the right elytron, with the fore right tarsus beyond segment 2 and the left hind tarsus missing, bears the labels: “golden square”, “Kasalinsk, Balassoglo”, and is here designated as paralectotype. Both the two last mentioned females were labeled “ Paralectotypus, Ƥ, Lixus lecontei Faust, Gültekin des. 2008”. All types have been remounted: golden square and locality labels have been mounted on a paper card to protect them.

Remarks. Lixus lecontei Faust belongs to the Lixus tigrinus group. It can be recognized by the shape of its fore tibia and long uncus.
