Larinus cylindrus Hoffmann, 1963: 88
Current status: Lixus cylindrus (Hoffmann, 1963) is a junior homonym of Lixus cylindrus (Fabricius, 1791) . It is a valid species and is now known as Lixus isfahanensis nom. n.
Type. In Hoffmann’s collection at MNHN is a specimen (probably female) mounted on card bearing the handwritten labels: “Ispahan, 1959, Iran, G. Remaudière”, “ Larinus (Larinorhynchus) cylindrus m. A. Hoffmann det.”, “ Holotype (unique)” on red paper. According to the original description the type locality is “ Iran ”.
Remarks. Larinus cylindrus is a member of the genus Lixus Fabricius, 1801 as Lixus cylindrus (Hoffmann, 1963) comb. n. The name is a junior homonym of Lixus cylindrus (Fabricius, 1781), and the new replacement name Lixus isfahanensis nom. n. is here proposed. Lixus isfahanensis is closely related to Lixus kraatzi Capiomont, 1875, but it is a larger species.
