Lixus fascifarius Reitter, 1895: 28

Current status: Lixus fascifarius Reitter, 1895 is a junior synonym of L. motacilla Schoenherr, 1832 .

Type. In Reitter’s collection at HNHM, is a female (right elytron formerly pinned, later remounted) bearing the labels: “Caucasus, Armen Geb., Leder.Reitter” printed, “Alagoes” handwritten, “ L. fascifarius m. 1895” handwritten, “ Holotypus, 1895, Lixus fascifarius Reitter ” red brimmed museum label, “ L. motacilla Boh., Coll. Reitter ” handwritten, and fitting the description with type locality as Caucasus, Armenisches Gebirge am Alagoes. It is here designated as lectotype with “ Lectotypus, Ƥ, Lixus fascifarius Reitter., Gültekin des. 2008”, “ Lixus motacilla Schh., Gültekin det. 2008”.

Remarks. Petri (1905) first established Lixus fascifarius Reitter as a synonym of L. motacilla Schoenherr.
