Current status: Lixus rosenschoeldi Boheman, 1842 is a valid species.

Type. In Schoenherr’s collection at SMNH, under the name “ Rosenschoeldi, Schh., 45–46, Bhn.” is a male pinned through the right elytron bearing the printed labels: “Lusit”, “Rosenschöld”, and fitting the description with type locality as Lusitania. It is here designated as lectotype with “ Lectotypus, 3, Lixus rosenschoeldi Boh., Gültekin des. 2006”.

Remarks. This species is closely related to Lixus elegantulus Boheman, clearly differing by the shorter and more conical, thick rostrum and long acute mucronate apex of elytra.
