Current status: Lixus geminatus Boheman, 1842 is a junior synonym of L. iridis Olivier, 1807 .

Type. In Schoenherr’s collection at SMNH, under the name “ Geminatus, 6., Boh.” is a male pinned through the right elytron (left fore leg missing) bearing the handwritten labels: “[orange square]”, “ Lixus geminatus Schh., Iridis Ol., Corsica ”, “ Furcillatus mihi h.m. Gallia Nogent-teine”, “116” printed, “coll. Chevrol.”, and fitting the description with type locality as Corsica. It is here designated as lectotype with “ Lectotypus, 3, Lixus geminatus Boh., Gültekin des. 2006”, “ Lixus iridis Ol .. Gültekin det. 2006.

Remarks. Capiomont (1874) first established Lixus geminatus Boheman as a synonym of L. iridis Olivier, 1807 .
