Type species — Phrissolaus inspersus Bates, 1881 (monotypy).
Diagnosis. Antennae twice the length of the body, with rigid setae; prothorax with acute tubercle placed at the posterior third; elytra with the external apical angle produced; basal metatarsomere two times length of the two following together; ovipositor projected beyond the elytral apex. Number of species currently included: 1 (Central America).
