Type species— Catharesthes elegans Bates, 1881 (monotypy).

Diagnosis. Antennae longer than body; prothorax with robust lateral tubercles placed on each side of the middle, pronotum bituberculate; elytra with robust centrobasal crest, without carina, with small tubercles basally; metafemora elongate and pedunculate; basal metatarsomere longer than the two following together. Number of species currently included: 1 (Central America).
