Diagnosis. Males of A. speciosa have the pygophore with a narrowly-rounded tip (Fig. 33). Further, the male profemur has three hair patches (Fig. 19), whereas A. javanica has a single hair patch and A. brevifasciata, A. cristata, and A. riparia each have two hair patches. Males of A. speciosa have the proximal profemoral hair patch larger than the other patches, whereas A. aquafrigida has the proximal hair patch smaller than the other patches.

Discussion. Amemboa speciosa has been recorded only from China, Laos, Thailand, and Vietnam (Polhemus & Andersen 1984, Zettel et al. 2007). In Thailand, this species has been collected from Chaiyaphum, Kalasin, Mukdahan, Phetchabun, and Sakon Nakhon provinces (Zettel & Chen 1997, Vitheepradit 2000). In the Phetchabun Mountains, this species was collected mainly from the margins of streams and rock pools. It was collected with A. cristata at the margin of a stream from Heaw Sai Waterfall in Chaiyaphum Province.
