Euplocania danubiana n. sp.

(Figs 33–44)

Diagnosis. Belonging in species group “E”, described in what follows: Forewing with broad, pigmented marginal band, from R4+5 to cells Cu2 and 1A–2A. Pterostigma angulate, extended towards Rs. Hypandrium of three sclerites, central one obtusely convex anteriorly, with four posterior projections, two middle ones, long and slender, distally pointed, and two side ones, broad, setose, with digitiform processes bearing setae, on posterior border of each. Side sclerites about twice as large as central one. E. danubiana is the only species included in this group.

Male. Color (in 80% ethanol). Head: ground color cream, with a brown area on vertex, next each compound eye; a brown band from each compound eye to anteclypeus, forming a V, as illustrated (Fig. 35); genae brown, ocellar group ochre, with a slender brown line on each side towards lateral band; maxillary palps creamy, with distal third of fourth segment brown. Pronotum cream, propleura dark brown, tergal lobes of meso- and metathorax brown, with peripheral areas cream; mesepisternum cream, with brown spots; mesepimeron dark brown, with small cream spots. Metapleura creamy, with small brown spots. Forewings hyaline, with a brown marginal band from wing base to R4+5; R2+3 with brown spot at wing margin; pterostigma proximally unpigmented, distal half dark brown. Hindwings hyaline, with brown band from wing base to end of Cu1. Legs mostly cream, coxae 1 and 2 pale brown, with brown spots on outer face, coxa 3 pale cream, with small proximal brown spot; fore- and mid- femora pale brown. Abdomen creamy, with brown subcuticular spots mostly latero-ventrally. Clunium, hypandrium and phallosome ochre, as well as epiproct and paraprocts.

Morphology. As in diagnosis, plus the following: Head: H/MxW: 1.46; compound eyes large, H/d: 1.90; IO/ MxW: 0.58. Vertex obtusely concave in the middle. Outer cusp of lacinial tip broad, with six denticles. Mx4/Mx2: 1.20. Forewings (Fig. 33): L/W: 2.53; pterostigma with setae, strongly angled towards Rs, lp/wp: 2.65, areola postica slanted posteriorly: al/ah: 1.59. Hindwings (Fig. 34): l/w: 2.67. Hypandrium with setae as illustrated (Fig. 37). Phallosome (Fig. 38) V shaped anteriorly, with side struts distally wide; external parameres stout, bearing pores distally, ending in a hook directed outwards; two pairs of endophallic sclerites, and a posterior transverse sclerite; anterior pair of endophallic sclerites triangular, joined laterally to slender, distally acuminate mesal sclerites; transverse sclerite posterior, with a wide based, pointed projection in the middle (Fig. 38). Epiproct convex anteriorly, posteriorly straight, with setae as illustrated (Fig. 36). Paraprocts (Fig. 36) rounded, with setal field posteriorly, sensory fields with 24 trichobothria on basal rosettes.
