Euplocania macarenaensis n. sp. Female

Diagnosis. Belonging in species group Amabilis, in the classification of García Aldrete et al. (2013). Differing from the females of the species in the group, in having the IX sternum transverselly oval, with pigmented area V shaped, as illustrated (Fig. 62).
Color (in 80% ethanol). Body pale brown, with dark brown spots, as indicated below. Head pale brown, with dark brown spots (Fig. 59). Vertex with small pale brown spots, as illustrated; compound eyes brown, ocelli hyaline, with ochre centripetal crescents; a dark brown band from each compound eye to clypeus, crossing sides of postclypeus, genae dark brown. Postgenae, labium, maxillae, and proximal third of mandibles creamy. Antennae: scape and pedicel dark brown, flagellum creamy. Maxillary palps cream, Mx4 with distal third pale brown. Thoracic pleura pale brown, meso- and metapleura with two longitudinal stripes ochre, pronotum pale brown, with a small area dark brown, tergal lobes of meso- and metathorax brown. Legs pale brown; fore coxae pale brown, mid and hind coxae creamy, with small ochre spots proximally and distally; tarsi 2 and 3 of all legs brown. Wings (Figs 57, 58) hyaline, veins brown; forewings with pterostigma dark brown, a brown marginal band and brown marginal band from R2+3 to wing base, with small hyaline areas, as illustrated. Hindwings with pale brown spots at wing margin of R and M, and from end of CuP to wing basea base. Abdomen creamy, with subcuticular ochre spots; clunium with brown spots. Subgenital plate creamy in the middle, with sides dark brown. Epiproct and paraprocts creamy, with ochre. IX sternum and gonapophyses pale brownfisis, V 2 +3 proximally dark brown.
Morphology. As in diagnosis, plus the following: Head: H/MxW: 1.46; compound eyes large, not reaching the level of the vertex, H/d: 2.66; IO/MxW: 0.76. Vertex slightly obtusely concave. Outer cusp of lacinial tip broad, with height denticles. Mx4/Mx2: 1.17. Forewings (Fig. 57): L/W: 2.57. Pterostigma: lp/wp: 3.3, areola postica with apex rounded, slightly slanted posteriorly: al/ah: 1.88. Hindwings (Fig. 58): l/w: 2.89. Subgenital plate (Fig. 61) broad, setose, distally rounded, with a setal field at apex. Gonapophyses (Fig. 62): V1 long, slender, acuminate; V2 +3 with a row of five setae on V 2; distal process sinuous, acuminate, with abundant microsetae. Paraprocts (Fig. 60) triangular, with abundant setae as illustrated, one of the distal macrosetae spatulate; sensory fields with 28–30 trichobothria on basal rosettes. Epiproct triangular (Fig. 60), setose as illustrated.

Etymology. The specific epithet refers to the type locality: Serrania de la Macarena.
