Distribution. Northern Africa (Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia).
Pollen hosts. Oligolectic on Reseda (Resedaceae) and possibly closely related genera: all 43 pollen loads (9 localities, 2 countries) analyzed so far exclusively consisted of Resedaceae pollen, and many females and males of H. taenioceras have been observed on the flowers of different Reseda species in Morocco and Tunisia (C. Praz, C. Sedivy and A. Müller, personal observation).
