Genus Engytatus Reuter

Engytatus Reuter, 1876: 82 . Type species: Engytatus geniculatus Reuter, 1876; preoccupied, next available name Neosilia modesta Distant, 1893 . Monotypic.

Diagnosis. Eyes located laterally at middle of head; calli indistinct or weakly delimited; pygophore with lateral tubercle on right side.

Discussion. Two species are known from Minas Gerais. Although Carvalho (1947b) reported Engytatus varians from Brazil, neither Carvalho (1958) nor Schuh (1995) listed it. Cassis (1984) restored Engytatus to generic rank, an action followed by Schuh (1995).
