Agrilus salakot sp. nov.

Description of holotype. Size: 8.2 mm. BODY. Shape: cuneiform; Build: robust; Color (dorsally): unicolored. HEAD. Size: very large; Medial impression: deep. Frons: Outline: markedly protruding head outline. Vertex: Sculpture elements: rugae; Sculpture aspect: arcuate; Sculpture intensity: superficial. Eyes: Size: smaller than half width of vertex (dorsal view); Shape: markedly protruding head outline; Lower margin: in line or below antennal socket; Median orbit: converging ventrally. Antennae: Length: reach to about anterior pronotal angles; Serration: from antennomere 4. PRONOTUM. Shape: visually transverse; Sides: slightly arcuate; Maximal width: at middle; Anterior margin: narrower than posterior. Anterior lobe: Development: obvious; Shape: arcuate; Width: broad; Position: projecting beyond anterior angles. Posterior angles: Shape: rectangular; Apex: sharp. Disk: Convexity: strongly convex; Impressions: medial and lateral; Medial impression: posteromedial only; Lateral impressions (depth): deep; Lateral impressions (width): narrow; Lateral impressions (modification): with tomentose patches. Variability. Except for the size: 6.7–8.2 mm without discernible variability. The male is unknown.
Diagnosis. Agrilus salakot is the smallest species among members of the A. quadripunctatus species-group. See also diagnosis at A. luzonicola and key to species.
Type material. Type locality: Philippines, Palawan, Salakot waterfalls, 800m, 09°42'N, 118°31'E. Type specimens. Holotype ♀, 1 ♀ paratype (EJCB): “ Philippines, Palawan, 1–21.II. 2000, 800 m, 9°42'N, 118°31E, Salakot waterfalls, E. Jendek leg.” .
Distribution. Philippines (Palawan Island).
Etymology. The specific name is a noun in apposition derived from the type locality “ Salakot ”.
