P. saccharatus species-group
Diagnosis. This group of species is characterised by the following morphological characters: body convex, relatively short (ratio max length / max width: 1.5–1.88; except P. tomentosus with more elongate elytra and ratio reaching 2.05); eyes lacking interfacetal setae; pronotum distinctly transverse, as wide as elytra; pronotum with dorsal median process anteriorly prominent and complex, widely lobate antero-lateral margins; elytra less than 1.5 times as long as wide, straight to sinuate and with distinctly indented margins; strongly prominent tubercles on 3rd elytral interval (joined to form a crest or not) and 5th interval.
