Diagnosis. This species is clearly distinct from all congeners in pronotal edges deeply lobate, combined with regularly nodulose alternate intervals of elytra and lack of interfacetal setae.
Redescription. Body length: 6.5–6.7 mm.
Body flattened, elongate (ratio max length/max width: 2.79–2.95); colour dark brown; body vestiture consisting of short, recumbent whitish setae, denser on head, pronotum and elytral tubercles; setae sparser and more erect on antennae, dense on club.
Head transverse with a distinct median raised area on frons; supraorbital carina raised, strongly indented with a narrow posterior portion distinctly raised above eye; supra-antennal carina slightly raised, edge indented; angulate protrusion between antennal insertion and eye, visible in lateral view; eyes protruding, without interfacetal setae; antennal insertion ventral, just below the edge of supra-antennal carina; antennae 11-segmented with a distinct 3- segmented club; antennomere I rounded, 1.5 times as long as II; II and III subcylindrical; III distinctly wider, about as long as II; IV–VIII very short and simple; IX–XI transverse to form a rather loose club.
Pronotum transverse (pronotal length/width: 0.65–0.73), narrower than elytra at base, about as wide or slightly wider at anterior angles, without prominent median process; margins distinctly lobate; maximum width at anterior angles, with one wide angulate lobe directed anteriorly and two small, pointed lobes, one at middle and one at posterior angle; sculpture of pronotum as in Fig. 2 g. Two posterior pronotal lobes well separated from the anterior, much larger lobe, but not always clearly separated from each other.
Elytra about twice as long as wide (elytral length/width: 1.92–2), with lateral margins straight and smooth; relatively low tubercles on 3rd, 5th and 7th intervals, numerous (7–10 per interval) and subequal in size.
Distribution and habitat occurrence. SE South Australia, Victoria, Tasmania, New South Wales, Australian Capital Territory and SE Queensland (Fig. 9 a); open forest with single records from mulga (Bulla Bulla tank in NSW), Cypress Pine forest (Manna S.F. in NSW) and Pine plantation (under pine bark in Stromlo Forest, A.C.T.).
