Hippotion boerhaviae (Fabricius, 1775)

Plate 3, Fig. 43

Material examined. PAKISTAN, [Punjab,] Kala Shah Kaku, 12. vii. 2012, Saleem Akhtar (NIBGE).

Remarks. This is the first record of this species from Pakistan. Hippotion boerhaviae has a broad range, from northeastern Pakistan, through India, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Thailand, southeastern China (Hong Kong and Guangdong), Vietnam, the Philippines, Indonesia and New Guinea, to eastern Australia, the Solomon Islands and New Caledonia (Pittaway & Kitching, 2013). Adults can only be reliably distinguished from H. rosetta by examination of the male genitalia; the larvae are more distinct.
