Proeme bucki (Melzer, 1931)
(Figures 43–48)
Temnopis bucki Melzer, 1931: 51; Zikán and Wygodzinsky 1948: 43 (type). Proeme bucki Martins 1978b: 121, Martins 1997: 129; Martins and Galileo 2004: 12, 92; Monné 2005: 425 (cat.); Monné et al. 2010: 242 (distr.); Monné et al. 2017b: 30 (holotype); Monné 2023: 642 (cat.).
Remarks. This species was originally described from Brazil (Rio Grande do Sul). Martins (1978b) recorded it from the following Brazilian states: Rio Grande do Sul, Bahia, Minas Gerais, Rio de Janeiro, and Santa Catarina). According to Martins (1997: 130) (translated): ′The species is rare in the collections and, although it may occur in the states of São Paulo and Paraná (two of the states with better entomological knowledge), has not yet been recorded from them̍. Even without formal records, the species was wrongly reported as occurring from Bahia to Rio Grande do Sul (Monné 1993, 2005; Monné and Giesbert 1994; Martins and Galileo 2004). Probably due to this range of states, Monné (2023) reported: Bahia, Minas Gerais, Espírito Santo, Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo, Paraná, Santa Catarina, Rio Grande do Sul. For now, there is no formal record of this species in the Brazilian states of São Paulo and Paraná, and only now are we formally recording the species for the Brazilian state of Espírito Santo.
The female of this species is illustrated here for the first time, and its general appearance is very similar to that of the male.
Material examined. BRAZIL, Bahia: Encruzilhada, Estrada Rio-Bahia, km 965, Motel da Divisa, 960 m, 1 male (MZSP 49207), XI .1974, Seabra and Roppa leg. (MZSP).
