Symplectoscyphus magellanicus (Marktanner-Turneretscher, 1890)

Distribution: The species was frequently reported in the Atlantic Ocean, Argentina, 36 – 56°S (Nutting 1904 as Sertularella magellanica; Hartlaub 1905 as Sertularella affinis; Vervoort 1972; Stepanjants 1979; Blanco 1984, 1994; Genzano & Zamponi 1997; Beshbeeshy & Jarms 2011; Miranda et al. 2015). It was reported also in Canal Pitt Chico, Chile (Galea 2007).
Remarks: Scarce fragments of colonies were found detached from substrata.
Symplectoscyphus milneanus (d’Orbigny, 1839)
Material examined: BBB 2016: St. 4; St. 9.
Distribution: South America. In the southwestern Atlantic the species is distributed, from 41°S to 56°S and at Malvinas / Falkland Islands reported as Sertularia milneana; Sertularella milneana, Sertularella plana; Sertularella meridionalis; Symplectoscyphus subarticulatus; and South Chile, near Isla Hanover (see Oliveira et al. 2016 and references therein).
