Ectopleura crocea (L. Agassiz, 1862)

Material examined: BBB 2016: St. 39.

Distribution: Circumglobal in shallow subtropical waters (Bouillon et al. 2004) and subtropical and temperate waters in southwestern Atlantic Ocean (Oliveira et al. 2016). Species widely reported in shallow waters of Argentinean coast as Tubularia crocea (Blanco 1994; Genzano & Zamponi 1997).

Remarks: Big and fertile clumps detached from substrates were found. The status of this species and synonymies with other Tubularids from southwestern Atlantic Ocean were discussed by Imazu et al. (2014).
