Distribution: In the southwestern Atlantic Ocean the species was found between 35 – 55°S reported as Synthecium robustum; also found in Chilean waters, Calbuco, Chile as S. chilense (see Oliveira et al. 2016).

Remarks: Abundant, big and fertile colonies were widely reported in all the studied sub-areas. Colonies were frequently found as epizoites on Chaetopterus antarcticus tubes.
