Distribution. This species was previously recorded from Saudi Arabia by Pont (1991); Dawah & Abdullah (2009); El-Hawagry et al. (2013). It was described from South Africa.

Biological remarks. This species has been reared from poultry manure in South Africa by Hulley (1986). Skidmore (1985) stated that it is not known whether this is a member of the cow dung community or a casual intruder from somewhere else. van Emden (1951) reported that H. lucida adults visit honeydew.
