Distributon. New to Saudi Arabia. It was described from China.
Taxonomic remarks. Often this species was included in literature under the name Helinella, either as a genus or subgenus of Helina . The synonym propinqua of authors not Stein listed in Catalogue of the Diptera of the Afrotropical Region (Crosskey 1980: 747) applies to a different species occurring in Papua and eastwards.
