Remarks. This species was previously known from its type locality “Kiautschou” (i.e. Jiaozhou, a city in Shandong, northern China) and Fujian, while the record from Fujian is actually referring to Pachyserica dongnanensis Zhao & Ahrens, new species . A small series of P. albosignata was collected from Nanling Nature Reserve recently.
Kiautschou is the type locality of some other scarabs with farther southern distributions, e.g. Serica maculosa Moser, 1915, Ischnopopillia erythropteroides Machatschke, 1975, Cyphochilus ochraceus Moser, 1915 and Hoplosternus pygidialis Moser, 1915 (a junior subjective synonym of Tocama tonkinensis (Moser, 1913)) . Consequently, these specimens are supposed to be gathered from various areas of China and exported through Kiautschou. The data based merely on “Kiautschou” should be assigned to uncertain status in future works.
