Syntypes not seen; a series of males and females from Angola and South Africa in the BMNH.
Diagnosis. Male with frons about one-fifth of head-width; general colour brown with grey pollinosity; scutum with an “ Anthomyia -pattern”, the two presutural dark brown spots separated; postsutural band broad; scutellum dark brown, grey pollinose at apex; notopleuron grey pollinose; frons brown; antenna, arista and palpus brown; haltere yellow; legs brown; frontal triangle short; arista plumose; postsutural dorsocentrals 4, the first two short; lower katepisternal weak, inserted closer to the long posterior one; fore tibia without a submedian seta; mid femur with 2 preapical setae, one posterior and one posterodorsal; mid tibia with 2 posterior setae; sternite 1 bare; sternite 5 as in Fig. 61.
Terminalia. Cercal plate and surstylus as in Figs 62–63. Aedeagal complex as in Fig. 64.
Notes. One male dissected and illustrated. The species shows infraspecific variation in the colour pattern of the scutum, mainly in the shape, size and colour of the two presutural spots.
