Lectotype female seen in BMNH (designated by Emden 1959: 191; see also Pont 2013: 108–109); in good condition.
Diagnosis. Scutum with an “ Anthomyia -pattern” in both sexes; dark postsutural band not connected to the dark scutellar spot; postsutural dorsocentrals 3; mid femur with 2 preapical setae; mid tibia with 2 posterior setae and without anterodorsal seta; costal spine absent; dark spots on third and fourth abdominal tergites subtriangular and large, reaching the anterior margin of each tergite.
Notes. In the same box with the lectotype there is a note by ACP made in 1987: “ 2♀ paralectotypes of simulans are paratypes of aethiopica Emd.” [ L. elgonica aethiopica] (see Emden 1959: 190; Pont 2013: 108–109).
